Oh Internet! : Web Review: Mitchell Heisman’s 1,905-Page Suicide Note

There's much to be learnt from Mitchell's Suicide note: 1: If you intend to make a large impact on your audience, then be clear and succinct in the presentation of your message. 2: Present your suicide note in a manner that is easily televised. We're a long way into the digital age. People are making the best use of audiovisual media to present their suicides, which catch on and spread like wildfire. Sadly, phone book-sized suicide notes, don't. 3: Suicide notes should be written in point form. Better yet, print it out in 24-pt Times New Roman. Your loved ones will appreciate it as it is very difficult to read long paragraphs of cuneiform heiroglyphic handwriting through tear-congested eyes. 4: If you intend to store the bulk of your suicide note on a website, remember to make a professionally-edited dubstep video trailer with a link to your site. Spare no expense, after all, it will be your last.

Hey Moie, your Art Director called and he had the following revisions: * Firefox Girl not quite fat and bloated enough. * Need an automobile steering wheel dangling around Opera Girl's neck and add a black eye and some bruises since she crashes so much. * Internet Explorer Girl needs to look more geriatric. * Change Chrome Girl to be of African descent, since Chrome's so fast. * Add more colours to Safari Girl's outfit design. Actually, add all the colours of the rainbow, because rainbows appeal to gay hipsters. So does Safari.

Oh Internet! : TONIGHT: Weev, NYT Columnist David Carr, and Daily Show Correspondant Wyatt Cenac live on WFMU at 6p

There weren't even any codes. All of the information was publicly accessible via a simple PHP app. All you had to do was give it a series of incrementing variables (in this case, they were ICCIDs) and it would obediently return account info. http://praetorianprefect.com/archives/2010/06/114... Nothing had to be broken into. Apple and AT&T just left their customers' information out in the open. And that's why there's so much egg in their face.

g+ also verifies via cellphone ! So to remain anonymous on g ! you'd need a disposable cell phone and choose a pseudonym ! and it would have to look like a real name ! and wasn't Harvey Keitel or Mel Gibson or something obvious like that !

...and there have been some truly crazy people out there that have driven for miles to the doorstep of someone they had a flame war with, and murdered them. Anonymity allows the public to comment on hot topics without fear of the crazies. Besides, if you get so worked up about what someone's said to you on the internet that you feel you have to reach out and punish them then maybe you're taking them a little too seriously. Also, the more open you are with your real name, the more of a target you become for identity theft.
