In my example given (read that about the gallon of milk) the point was that the fee was non-negotiable, No further discussion is relevant on that. Because the question was your thoughts at that moment. This is where I jump off the titanic.

The State is not even capable of isolating the problem, let along admitting it and rectifying it.

Problem is this. Principles cost money. Mine. I value my time, but I value honesty more. A good analogy for you. You go to the store (Safeway) you pick up a gallon of milk, go to the checkstand. They scan the milk tell you it's $4.59 plus a $1.00 non negotiable fee. Your thoughts at that moment? Thanks

KOMO - Seattle, WA : No apparent rhyme or reason behind Craigslist flaggings | Consumer News | Seattle News, Weather, Spo

Rules? You think rules flag? Not so. People flag. That's my point. They are not immature hen they flag, and it's not playground mentality. You have as much info on why they flag an ad as you do on why they are going to vote for Romney or Obama. Flagging is like a vote. The end result is an ad is removed. Thats how it works.

It's funny. CL is the only site that is moderated with flagging, yet people always want to change that. In the end, it can only be accepted. And yes, people loooking for paying work can get emotional and flag.

No, I'm not sold on the idea that people who use drugs are productive, healthy or active lives. Do people who use Valium lead productive, healthy or active lives? Productive people don't wave flags saying they are productive. Healthy people don't need drugs. Active people do more than proclaim they are active. The welfare crowd? Who are they? I don't know any.

The same attendant problems in Columbia can come visit us here. LUCKILY most potheads are stupid and lazy. Natural selection at work.

Focus. The conversation is not about PetSmart. I didn't mention PetSmart. You sound like one of those zealot pet people who's lost complete touch with reality. Note: The reality is Pet Overpopulation. The solution is PetSmart ? I do believe you may be part of the problem. As long as there are delusional people in the pipeline signing up to foster and make a living by "Saving Pets", Volunteering and transferring contraband to yet more people, the problem will continue to exist as it is. Supply and Demand are just that.

I just have to say, I wonder what we'd all be talking about if the male had been the one with the ostentatious lifestyle and then booted the female. I guess that marriage, and the whole rigamarole has caused us to forget that these are peoples and are judgement isn't going to change them. Its real easy to be anonymous and judgmental on the internet isn't it?

Or, you could look at it this way. If the amount of flags by people with advanced level skills is greater than the few with lower level skills - you could be moderated by the community. People take flagging way too personal. It's not. It's a reflection of the how the community views your ad. If you don't understand the relationship between how many flags you received and the view taken by the community, then you will be disappointed. Personally, I have ajob that pays over $25/hr. I don't even know PhotoShop. I am not looking for a job/gig. But, I do know this; if you are looking for $$$$ (that's the reason people work) - and they see an ad offering all of $50, well - it will result in no votes (flagging s like voting). You've been voted off the island. And you didn't help yourself when you clearly identified in the interview that the job was good for a single mom (discriminatory).

Here is a classic problem. Low pay is indeed a common cause of flagging in both gigs and jobs (however in paid job cities on CL/flagged jobs are reviewed by Staff before they are removed. The flagging is about both disappointment and a way to express their frustration. Believing that your ad is going to fly no matter what in gigs/jobs isn't going to work. Community Moderation will always express those feelings. People with high level photoshop skills/talents don't see that pay as adequate compensation.

I find it very sad that something so elementally simple should incite so much 'discussion'. First of all, it is free. That's a great thing. It's also a privately held website. I've worked (as a volunteer folks) in Flag Help w/ flagged ads for years. The problems are simple. Post an ad for business/commercial in the private party (For Sale) ads and you will get flagged. Post too many ads over and over and you could be flagged as a spammer. Combine entitlement with free and/or greed, and on CL you will have problems. Because the whole premise of community moderation is not "user-friendly". Users (Terms of Use folks) who don't fit the basic ideals of the community - will get flagged. Sometimes that can be fixed, sometimes not. An what is fascinating is the fact that those community norms change from category to category. Someone selling guitars in Nashville will have vastly different experience in Seattle. As to the "waste of time" - good lord, I wonder how often some of these people who complain do flag. They should do more of that, and less of complaining. Failing that they should just go use Ebay Classifieds, or some other site where they have to pay. . CL is too simple for them. OH, and if you come visit us in Flag Help, try to be polite. All community moderation works better that way.
