Thank you for this. It perfectly sums up what depression feels like without getting into all the nitty-gritty, and I plan on using it to explain myself (and others) to friends and family in the future.

I proposed to my husband! On his birthday, he drove to our favorite bakery to get pastries like he does every Saturday. While he was gone, I put on my most twirly vintage dress and decorated our apartment with the watercolor signs I had made the night before. When he got home, I played him a youtube video of me performing "Marry You" on ukulele (because I knew I would be too nervous to get through it if I played it in person) with the lyrics changed to be about us (they were extremely cheesy). Then I sobbed my way through a lot of sappy things and asked him to marry me. He said yes! I used a plastic ring from a diet coke bottle cap--we played around with it when we discussed getting married a few weeks before the proposal. We've been married for about a year, and he still wears that ring :)
He LOVES that I proposed to him, but we still get plenty of "SO, he was dragging his feet, eh? *wink wink*" type comments.
