I've enjoyed reading your Resident Evil reviews SO MUCH. I regularly bring them up at dinner parties. I hope you continue the scientific accuracy somewhere else in the future!

I have this gaudy golden ladybug watch necklace (it's wings open up to reveal a clock face) on a long gold chain. It belonged to my grandmother, and I love busting it out in the summertime. It feels like I carry a bit of her with me. It's been my favorite thing about June so far.

You guys, I've NEVER made it to the open thread this early before, and now I don't have anything of significance to say. How about this:

-I am moving to North Carolina really soon and am silently freaking out about it and would love to hear about any major life changes you guys are going through and how you are coping!

-I had grits for the first time like 2 weeks ago and my life will never be the same. How did I go this long without grits?

"Think of depression like a rhino sitting on a person’s chest. The person wants to get up. The person knows that standing up would be a lot more fun than lying flat and squashed. It’s just, there’s this rhino, you know? And it’s so much bigger than the person is."

Thank you for this. It perfectly sums up what depression feels like without getting into all the nitty-gritty, and I plan on using it to explain myself (and others) to friends and family in the future.

Blue forever and ever and ever amen (I am an atheist but I feel ok about using "amen" when referring to Blue).

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!

I proposed to my husband! On his birthday, he drove to our favorite bakery to get pastries like he does every Saturday. While he was gone, I put on my most twirly vintage dress and decorated our apartment with the watercolor signs I had made the night before. When he got home, I played him a youtube video of me performing "Marry You" on ukulele (because I knew I would be too nervous to get through it if I played it in person) with the lyrics changed to be about us (they were extremely cheesy). Then I sobbed my way through a lot of sappy things and asked him to marry me. He said yes! I used a plastic ring from a diet coke bottle cap--we played around with it when we discussed getting married a few weeks before the proposal. We've been married for about a year, and he still wears that ring :)

He LOVES that I proposed to him, but we still get plenty of "SO, he was dragging his feet, eh? *wink wink*" type comments.
