It says to me that you enter a shallow forward glide path and lose a bit of height as you fumble the collective pitch lever from the 'take-off' position to the 'flight' setting. It says to me that it is a good job that the pilot wasn't slower. It says to me that it is just as well this wasn't tried first time in amongst buildings or in a tight forest clearing. It says to me that this is why I love helicopters.

The men of the Merchant Navy and Merchant Marine who kept the supply routes into the UK and allied territories definitely deserve our respect. At times they found themselves on their own little floating piece of front line -- notably in the North Atlantic where the biggest threat was the U-boat packs and in the Arctic Convoys where the weather was almost as fearsome an enemy as the Kriegsmarine. A tot of Brefass Rum anyone?
