The social worker DID smell gas when the door was opened but could not get to the children because again JOSH LOCKED THE SOCIAL WORKER OUT. I am pretty sure there is this thing called "procedure" the social worker HAS TO FOLLOW regardless of the situation and did their job by calling their supervisor. It doesn't matter either way. Josh had a plan and followed through with it. He could have chosen to do it in a public place and many more innocent people would have be caught in vindictive plan.
