KOMO - Seattle, WA : Everett High neighbors fed up with teen mayhem | KOMO News - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic and Weat

This kind of crap happens around high schools in all neighborhoods. I live down the street from Ingraham High in Seattle. Kids walk by at lunch smoking pot. They graffiti fences in the area. The worst part is all their litter. You can see the trail from 7-11 to the school and the little pockets where they hang and smoke. I think a closed campus is a reasonable solution. Really, why do they need to leave the school?

Did you miss the part where the girl grabbed the lady by the hair and hit her repeatedly in the head with her cell phone, then sic'd the dog on her? The 16 year old also had several other younger children with her she was setting an example for. I'd say she needs more time for contributing to the deliquincy of a minor and for being worthless to society at this point. Next we hear, she's hooked up with the guys out robbing people in the middle of the night. We don't need them. Where's our vigilantes?

I just found this information on www.seattle.gov/transportation/bikecode.htm. Helpful, somewhat. Section 11.53.190 DRIVING IN A BICYCLE LANE. The operator of a motor vehicle shall not drive in a bicycle lane except to execute a turning maneuver, yielding to all persons riding bicycles thereon. Section 11.44.040 RIDING ON ROADWAYS. Every person operating a bicycle upon a roadway at a speed slower than the normal and reasonable flow of motor vehicle traffic thereon shall ride as near to the right side of the right through lane as is safe, except as may be appropriate while preparing to make or while making turning movements, or while overtaking and passing another bicycle or vehicle proceeding in the same direction. A person operating a bicycle upon a roadway that carries traffic in one direction only and that has two or more marked traffic lanes may ride as near to the left side of the left through lane as is safe. A person operating a bicycle upon a roadway may utilize the shoulder of the roadway or any specifically designated bicycle lane if such exists.

This is what I've been trying to figure out. Is there anywhere to go to read the rules of how to handle bike lanes? I'm a confused driver. Are supposed to turn right across the lane or merge in to the bike lane to turn?

Well, if he doesn't have medical insurance or insurance for his motorcycle, then he's costing the state the money to pay for his medical. Anyway you look at it, his choice to not wear a helmet and drive recklessly costs someone somewhere something.

How do we protect our boys from this? I have been very open with my nine year old son and have tried to create an environment where he feels safe to talk to me. Still, he'll come home moody from school or not want to go, and I can never ever get a reason. I don't know if he's just in a bad mood or if something else is going on. I ask teachers and others at school and no one has a reason for it. Very frustrating. What do you do as a parent? One day you just wake up and your kid snaps and has a shoot out at school?

I'm no expert, however when my cat was about 7 we were told he had a heart murmur. Up to that point we stayed current all vacinations. At about that time I noticed that he didn't leave the yard and wasn't roaming much. We decided to let him be and not add the stress of vet visits. He's now 16 years old and seems fine to me.

Last time I checked overweight and/or ugly people weren't on the protected class list. However, disabilities such as a prosthetic arm are and they should be in trouble for discriminating against this girl. Not saying I agree with the hiring practices, but I do think if the company wants to have a certain "look," they should be able to, assuming they keep it legal. I wouldn't try to apply there, I know I wouldn't fit in.

This is just sloppy work on the part of the parking enforcement. My mom's car was stolen and abandoned in the U District. It received a parking ticket every day for a month, before someone thought to check on it. There's usually a reason that a car sits untouched for a month. Figure it out!

I've been with my husband since I was 14 and was 21. Together 22 years, happily married 17, 9 year old son. My life would be very different without him and I am blessed! I was quite mature at that age and took the bus to Planned Parenthood to get free birth control--not everyone is. Obviously this girl was not ready for a sexual relationship with anyone, regardless of age.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : When does that problem mean a trip to the doctor? | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Consumer News

My family and I self insure at a cost of $350 per month for the 3 of us. This buys us a policy with a $2500 annual deductible and a huge annual out of pocket coinsurance and no pharmacy coverage. Last summer my son fell and hurt his elbow--turned out to be a sprain--but the trip to the ER cost us $750 out of pocket. This is after our $350 per month premium. It's terrible. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. After insurance, that little series of treatments ended up costing us about $20 K out of pocket all together over two years. If I didn't have good credit, who knows where we'd be now. This is how families lose everything they've worked for. It's just wrong! Not to mention that cost of prescriptions. My asthma meds cost about $150/mo. Can't afford to take them. I needed a shot every two weeks during chemo at a cost $480 a pop (insurnace did cover this injectible fortunately, or it would have cost $2500 EACH SHOT!) What's wrong with this picture?

Okay--I am in no way saying that I think this situation is right. This man is much to old for this girl and had NO right taking her anywhere. However, we have to be careful about lumping all of these younger girl/older guy relationships under one umbrella. I started dating my husband when I was 14 and he was 21. 22 years later, 17 years of marriage and a beautiful 9 year old boy. Sometimes it is pure and true. What possible good would have come from him being thrown in jail or castrated?

I'm confused. How else do you change lanes, but to look for openings between cars? I always leave lots of room and just back off when someone needs to get over.
I agree! There are way too many days off. I'm fortunate to have a job that allows me to work "school hours." However, on short days and work days, I'm screwed because I don't normally have childcare, so it's hard to figure it out! Every single month has at least one early dismissal and one day off. Just the two weeks of early dismissals for teacher conferences cost our family $500.
