World In Conversation : Managing Crowds - SOC 001

I think the best way to get people who will reap the benefits even if they don't participate is make it emotional. if ppeople are emotionally involoved it makes them more likely to do take part. For those who it does not affect you have show them that it will in some way effect them like in the decussion on wednesday. some of those students including myself would not be affected whatever the reason may be, but it would still effect us in the fact that quality of the schooling would be affected. Which I am sure would be enough to get the ones that the tutition raise does not effect to feel some type of way about the whole thing.

World In Conversation : FEAR

These are fears that we all have. It is these fears that make us human. i suffer from everyone of these fears everyday. But we do not like to let people know because we think it makes us seem weak. But I beleive that is for lack of a better term is "Bullshit". I have been called emotionally detached because of these fears and the stigma that surounds them. Everybody in the world conforms their life around them and if people find out about them they exploit them. In hopes that everybody else doesnt notice that they are worried about the exact same things. People die over these fears and kill. I think that as a man it takes a lot for this man to tell the whole world as to what is he is afraid of. it also speaks worlds of his charater that he has the strenght to face his victums family. This also says that sometimes we can break free of the "Strings" that bind us in everything in life. We all are victums of our own desicions and the decisions of the world around us.

World In Conversation : Life Without Parole - 001 Blog

We as a people are told that is not right so we just go with it and when someone says differently we look down upon them "like what the hell are you doing man, get back in line and shut up" if that’s the case this is a whole different discussion. It brings up the issue of freedom again. Society’s version of morals just adds another rule not that we have to live by, but what they think you should live by. I personally think that this man has his moral compass now in the right direction. I'm not saying that he has to live by those cause they might change over the course of the rest of his life, but if when its his time to go if he can say "My past is my past, it and my decision have lead me to be the best man can be" then he should go proudly.

No matter what your situation is, be it in prison or a "Free Man". we as humans believe that we should all live by a preset standard of morals and that is not true. We all have different opinions so intern we all have different morals, but society tells us "to hell with your morals, you will live by our morals." Its like the cursing lecture we had society does not like cursing, but I do not have a problem dropping an "f-bomb" every once in a while to get my point across.

I personally believe that morals are set within ourselves, and that we never truly know whether we are doing as he put it "the thing that is right or just the right thing." You must look back and reflect on what you've done in life, and if you've made bad decisions ask yourself "what did I do to reconcile with that decision." We all have lapses in judgment I don't care how perfect you think you are. As long as you can look back and say "I've done the best I could do to be the best man/woman I could be" then you should be proud of, not what you were, but what you have become.

I guess one can never tell whether we are doing morally right or wrong. I think that you set your own moral standards in life. My moral values could be different than that of the next man, and who is to say that mine aren't just as important as his. In this case I would have to agree with this inmate, no this man, but it leaves me a question. Are good values and morale’s innate or do the come with time and reflection? I would like to say the they are just there, but I cannot because my values and morals has changed drastically since I was 14.

Now I am not saying that certain kids do not choose to be in pageants, but the parents need to think is it such a good idea to expose my kid to such standards at such a young age or do I want my kid to be a kid. Now if they are doing it and the parents are helping with a costume. It is not the parents decision(within reason) let the child make the decision and go from there. Toddler pageants are for exactly who the say they are the "toddler".

Soc001 I disagree with aschilgen. This open the door to so many different things. It exposes kids to conformaity at such a young age. I mean heres an example my sister has a friend she goes to school with they are both nine years old. Her friend has gone through early stages of an eating disorder. she does want to eat because she does not want to get fat. Really, at nine years old that is the last thing they should be worried about. Now imagine wat pressure these parents must be putting on these TODDLERS. Telling them they can't do this cause they won't look right or you cant eat that cause you wont fit into your dress. Have you seen an adult beauty pageants? I think those women look sickly and we know wat some of them do to fit in their dresses and gowns. Now you asking me to be ok with parents putting their two year olds through the same thing. If you honestly think that the parents are not infleuncing their kids decisions then some of you are more nieave (or how ever you spell that) than I thought.
