The news reports state the name of the crabbing boat is The Network.

According to the local radio station, KTIL, news today, alcohol has now been banned from Sand Lake.

Sand Lake itself is not too dangerous, but some of the drivers must be.
Accidents at Sand Lake are an every week occurance!!! If you live anywhere near Hwy 101 between Tillamook and Sand Lake, expect to be awakened most every Friday and Saturday night during the summer/fall with emergency vehicles/sirens rushing to Sand Lake. Last night we were also awakened by the Life Flight Helicopters coming in to land at the hospital. We knew it had to be really bad!

The accidents are EVERY weekend during summer/fall. Not kidding! Anyone in the County with a scanner will tell you the same thing. Sometimes there are mulitple accidents in a single night.

I don't know what the answer is, but a lot of people are getting either critically injured or killed there. I guess if they want to take their chances while having "fun", that is their choice. But the deaths and injuries seem overwhelming and needless! From a Tillamook Resident.
