Help! I have a new 3GS (new from the box, not connected yet) and I'm don't know what version it is. how can I know the version without risking the device (I need to know if I can jailbreak it or if I have to wait for the Dev team to come with a 3.1 break). I do not poses an at&t SIM. Can someone answer me? when I connect the phone, if it is not 3.1, will it tell me what version it is when asking to update? 10x

Hi, I just got a new iPhone 3GS bought in the states (it is brand new sealed in box). I do not know what is the OS version. How can I find the OS version? should I plug it to iTunes? should I just put in my non at&t SIM (I don't have any at&t SIM)? I need to find out whether it is 3.1... can someone help me?
