Actually, I think a McCain-Romney ticket would have been even stronger. More states would be in play because of Romney (including Michigan and New Hampshire), and the ticket would have had more clout on the economic issues. Additionally, having a slick Romney as the face of the new Republican Party would have made a lot of people give it a second look. I was scared for quite a while that McCain would pick him.
I'm just curious where all the people are from four years ago who said that in today's climate it was impossible for a sitting senator to win the presidency. =)
Illinois has had some interesting times with their governors. I used to be excited about the last one since my name is Ryan... now he's in prison.
So basically, if Obama wins the states down the chart through New Mexico, McCain has to win all of Colorado, Virginia, Ohio, Nevada, Florida, and North Carolina (all polling for Obama) in addition to the two tossups, Indiana and Missouri for him to win. I like our odds, but I would not want to be Richard Davis right now.
Here in Missouri, we're doing all we can to make this bellweather predict the election!
I don't remember, but it seems like in past elections, Texas was in play. Maybe I'm just thinking of the West Wing?
The governor races are interesting. Could DCW post something about those?
Even if they don't have to be confirmed, it's probably not a good idea. Yes, it would piss off a lot of the base, but the GOP could use it to their advantage. The next time someone accuses them of intolerance, etc., they can point to that guy, which could keep undecideds that care about such things from swinging toward the dems.
We understand that the word originally Spanish, but he's telling us what the correct pronunciation of the state's name is, and he is correct. Here in Missouri, we have a city called "Nevada" that is pronounced "Nuh-vay-duh"!
Wow, she is really going after the "soccer mom" vote. Hopefully, they will also listen to the statements from Biden deflating her alterations of the truth.
