Yeah i get all that, i guess it find it strange that nothing has been mentioned in a long while, which is fine, no worries for me, and i'm definitely patient, just a bored day so surfing the web, throwing out my thoughts. and thanks for letting me know about I0nic, i did not see that post, probably overlooked it or didn't go back far enough. and that is a shame, but its always good too, a possible backup exploit in the future if we ever do need it.

I'm not asking about ETA, i dont mind actually, i'm happy on 5.0.1 and everything is running smoothly. Its just nice to be on the latest update. I do know that they never give any ETA, but they do usually let us know whats going on, or a hint of something jailbreak related, but i haven't read anything in a while, so i was just curious. Maybe they have a new site i dont know about, or they just posted something i could have overlooked, but i haven't seen or heard anything in about month, which usually doesn't happen when they already have an exploit and are just working on mass distributing the jailbreak. I also do know that they never ask for donations, i did mention that, and i was grateful for that. It was just some interesting observations i had made, $250,000 for a quick sell would be great to anyone, but i'm not saying they are broke or anything, money is always great. But, I also know they could have charged for jailbreaks and made a lot more money, so thats why so much respect to them for not doing anything like that, not even asking for donations. If you check out their twitters you will notice, like a couple days after announcing that they had jailbroken 5.1, they completely stopped talking about it. This could either be good news or bad news. I dont really know, but i can only take in other information released by them and generate an idea. And from your post above, i see that you wrote "We know that there is no progress and ETA." I actually did not know that there is "no progress,' this is NEWS to me. How did you find out that there is NO progress? I would have assumed that they are working on the jailbreak whenever they get the chance. Is there a reason they would not have wanted to release a 5.1 jailbreak? cause i can't think of any reason not to, unless they are saving it for iphone 5. I wasn't saying (edited) the dev team and jailbreakers, i was just seeing if anyone had noticed that there hasn't been any updates in a long while. My whole purpose of this post was just i'm curious of know whats going on, I dont care when they release a new jailbreak, i really don't need a new jailbreak, but its nice to know about some progress and work, not an ETA of when it will be done. But like i said, i could have missed some information or something new, thats why i decided to come to this site and write a comment and get some feedback. I wasn't trying to disrespect anyone, bring anyone down, or even try to make the jailbreakers hurry, i never even asked for that. I was just curious about some information, the whole reason to be online, used the internet, what it was intended for.

Also, i wouldn't update it to 4.1, cause of the baseband, you really wouldnt wanna screw yourself, what i would recommend is sell it on craigslist and just buy another one

Usually Saurik will take that SHSH and fix it for updates such as 4.0.1 so just jailbreak it and run cydia and see what SHSH he has on file for that phone.

Your firmware doesnt have to do anything with the baseband, they are two different things. jailbreaking just allows third party applications to be used, and ultrasn0w, a third party application, unlocks it. right now it seems like the phone will not be unlocked till nov-dec so yeah you got yourself a really fancy ipod. Sorry man hopefully something will come out sooner

Most likely yeah the warranty will be voided, I dont know how they can find out, and i personally wouldn't, but look at the bright side, if you fix it then you wont need to go. Plus apple doesnt replace damaged goods, unless the guy working at the counter is nice enough to just replace it for you, which i'm told is happening a lot since apple's image with the iphone4 got a lot of shit for.

No there will not be a jailbreak for 4.0.2, and there might not be a jailbreak for 4.1 since 4.2 is coming out in november, there is no point in lossing in the 'cat and mouse' game. so your gonna have to wait till november

Ok this is what i would try I'M SURE YOUR GONNA NEED AN APPLE FOR THIS NOT SURE ON WINDOWS, since your in DFU, connect the phone, and go into system profiler (click on apple logo on top left, 'about this mac' -> 'more info'), click on USB on the left hand, find the Ipod, then look for the ECID number, going into tinyumbrella and obtain the SHSH, then run TSS server, and restore it though itunes. You have to make sure your restoring (using option key) and not updating

Well its really the problem that apple will lose money cause everyone will have free games and all, yeah its true that some people do use iphone for customized firmwares and other goodies, but 97% of jailbreakers used it for free games, so jailbreaking is a loss to them. But then again most people with an iphone tend to download music illegally, loss of profit there What i don't understand is why apple should sign a contract with like AT&T, cause they could sell more phones if it was unlocked and have a lot more customers and make way more money if everyone could just have it. But i guess its good to, cause everybody always wants what they can't have I'm a really big fan of apple, had an iphone since 2g -> 3g -> 3gs -> 4g, once you go iphone its nearly impossible to look at anything else, from the beautiful interface to how everything is backed up and restored perfectly even when changing devices, i love it.

The Firmware Umbrella : TinyUmbrella with 4.1 Support

jpottle your correct It is possible to downgrade to 4.0.1, but the firmware will be 2.10.04 But it is possible using tinyunbrella to upgrade to 4.1 while leaving your baseband the same

Venusanann your correct, i was really just hoping i was doing something wrong that was giving me some error, but yeah that error is only given when apple stops signing, so yeah 4.1 is the only thing that possible to restore through apple right now. This completely sucks cause i thought i was updating itunes when i was sleeping (yeah i keep my laptop next to me when i'm sleeping) Woke up to make a call and i got fucked, no phone now, big parties i was supposed to go to, pool party tomorrow, then then just some crazy weekends i'm gonna miss now, why? cause i can't use any phone besides an iphone now.
