Haboobing : Arizona monsoon lightning shots

Eric, I took about 500+ pictures on a continuous shot mode. I don't think that is Maricopa Mountain, but it's definitely looking that way. I think that's just a hill between us an I-10 :) This was taken around Gilbert and Hunt Highway, about 1/4 mile south of there.

Not sure what mountain that is. I think it's probably not Maricopa Mountain but a couple of hills next to I-10? That picture is taken on Gilbert south of Hunt Highway about 1/4 of a mile, so that is looking SW across I-10. I think the camera took about 400 pictures for me to get these :) My goal is to get a time lapse camera down the road so the shots can be much, much better. But just having a point and shoot...I'm happy with these :)

Yeah, it's accurate...that's what it looks like, only when we see this stuff, it's so quick, it may look different.

Thanks for heads up on him, I'll make sure to keep up. His website hasn't been updated in awhile, but he did post some lightning photos last August. They are pretty great too, amazing stuff. Hoping I can figure out if my camera has a time lapse on it, or if my Flip can do freeze framing okay. Otherwise, I may start looking for something new ;)

Thank you for the photos, they are incredible :) I'm so very jealous of you guys in the midwest who get to see all these crazy storms that we just don't always get out here in Phoenix :) Hoping to get some lightning shots this summer though...gonna try the HD Flip out on a tripod and see what happens. Thanks for stopping by!

dreamloom | a modern cahiers du television: deep thoughts on a shallow medium. : Battlestar Galactica: "Daybreak"

Richard, thanks for bringing the emotion back to the surface after it kind of died out a little Saturday...now I'm missing the show all over again. I wrote on my blog Friday night much of the same things you did. Especially the stuff you say about the "nerds" and God and angels. How anyone could be let down that God was in control of things is beyond me. Wasn't that the point all along? Wasn't that one of the biggest storylines, the biggest motivation for even headed to earth? If it turned out to be aliens or just dumb luck, wouldn't it diminish everything Roslin felt was calling her forward? That shocks the crap out of me...that people are so shortsighted. Like you said, they just care about the "sci-fi" side of things and want their technical "sci-fi" explanation. People are still wondering what Kara was and are somehow annoyed that it wasn't answered directly. That kind of baffles me too. I thought it was obvious...and it didn't need an explanation. The Coda was perfect as well, and I like your deeper look at it. Also, the idea of Noah's Ark is intriguing. Never really looked at it that way, and it makes a lot of sense to me. God kept them on the ark for 40 days and 40 nights...probably to teach them something about themselves and HIMself along the way. If it happened too quickly, they wouldn't learn anything. Which is why they had to be brought together at the end, which I feel was the true importance of Hera. They all thought this girl was important and meaningful, but she was just the key to bringing them all together for one final attempt at breaking the cycle, which didn't happen because of Tori's simple act of murder. I don't think most people are talking much about how Tori's "sin" prevented the peace from happening. Or maybe that wasn't in God's plan afterall. But who knows... Anyways, what a fantastic show and I really get bummed when I know people wont watch it because the title sounds "star trekkie" and that if it's out in space, it much suck.

dreamloom | a modern cahiers du television: deep thoughts on a shallow medium. : Battlestar Galactica: "Deadlock"

So glad that your blog echoed my sentiments exactly. Both my wife and I were 30 minutes into the show, looked at each other and she said, "I'm kind of bored" and I agreed. Awful episode, the flow was horrible and the writing was cheesy as all hell. The Ellen-Saul-Caprica crap about love and all that was just ridiculous. First we find out Callie's baby isn't a Cylon conveniently, and now this baby dies for no reason. I remember some writer (Moore, Jane, who knows) saying this baby would be addressed in future episodes...so that was it? The whole Baltar storyline was completely out of place. It felt like they realized Baltar hadn't done much lately, so let's give him something to do. And out of nowhere his Six starts talking to him again after weeks and weeks of nothing. I'm so disappointed in this episode, because with so few left, you really want them all to be so very worth it.

Narcho? I missed it before and on Friday. What is that? Loved the episode as well, one of the best ever...kept in me suspense and tense the entire time. I loved Starbuck as well, and like you said, it was amazing and perfect to see Adama and Tigh kicking ass together again.
