Second, it's not a rotating exhibit on Star Wars or Sesame Street. At the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian, they have a Popular Entertainment section wherein there are any number of rotating popular culture related items on display. I was there two months ago and Kermit the Frog, Dorothy's red slippers, and Roberto Clemente's Pirates jersey were all on display. As an aside, the exhibit itself is a real bummer though because it is a tiny room with just a few rotating items (when I visited years ago in high school they had Archie Bunker's chair and Norm's bar stool from Cheers on display) and you have to wait about 30 minutes to walk into a tiny room and see whatever 10-12 items are on display. Not everything has to be LOST or BSG in terms of mythology. In fact, some shows, ahem Heroes, can really suck big time when they try to make a mythology and end up tripping over their own plotlines, constructs, and character arcs. Think about what "Lost In Translation" might be summed up like in a studio's log-line summary... "While spending a week in Tokyo the girlfriend of an ambitious/absentee artist is plagued by insomnia. She finds a kindred spirit in an aging, legendary movie star who is staying in her same hotel and also battling sleepless nights." And btw, Elle Fanning is a pretty great little actress. Saw "Phoebe in Wonderland" with my sis at the Angelica in NYC and her performance made the film. Looking forward to this one.
