Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent - through May 3rd

Great post, Harley. Thank you for pointing out the numbersusa website. Although I had heard about it, I had never been to the site before. If we can get this type of site together for EACH and EVERY topic we are looking to address and then have links to them from this website, we really can make a difference. After all, who can complain about the time it takes to send an already composed statement in the form of a fax through the internet... takes less than a minute.

You hit it on the head... Specter even admitted to this in his televised message. Said he met with dem leaders and they assured him of funding for the '10 election if he would come over to their side. Here's the thing that made me think all of us might actually be making a difference... he said the 'right wing' of the Republican party is working to purify the party.

Mandy- thanks for the great tip! The publisher's site said that demand for these guides is at record highs... more than 17,000 printed in a single day. Oh, and I guess high demand comes with a price- the guide I am getting is $18- still worth it IMO. Here is a link to a detailed page of the guide- http://capitoladvantage.com/capub/index.php?optio...

Take note and mark this day... a politician makes an honest statement! We've all known for a long time now that Specter was a dem, just wasn't politically in his best interest to make it official until now. He is a sickening example of Washington politics- it's all about self-service for them. Yup, one RINO down... more to come?

Never mind... found another site that seems to be pretty good... <a href="http://www.opensecrets.org" target="_blank">http://www.opensecrets.org -- pretty interesting to see who gave who what! The original site I was looking for was the Federal Election Commission at http://fec.gov. I don't know how accurate either of these sites are, though. I gave money for the presidential campaign but my name was not listed.

I like The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Constitution by Kevin Gutzman... I use it as a reference all the time. It might shake some beliefs (as promoted by the progressive agenda) that you've accepted as fact. Scary to know the Constitution has been under attack since its creation.

HELP me, please... I am looking for the website where you find who donated funds to state and national elections- seems like it was a government agency. Someone posted this info on here a few weeks ago, but can't find it now! So frustrating... we really need this posted in a reference area on this site so we can have the tools readily available- webmaster, would this be possible? Thanks in advance!

I heard in a news report earlier this year that they are planning to count the homeless population using their area as the address, whether that be a park bench or overpass. This would explain the use of the GPS, to ensure EVERYONE is counted in the large urban areas... more people, more seats in the house, more control.

Just had to take a minute to vent about a story airing on Fox News this morning... Lansing, Michigan's mayor was on to discuss autoworker retiree pension plans being paid by tax dollars. What caught my ear was his extreme position against capitalism. He attacked the opposing guest and accused him or those like him of being the cause of the economic situation we are in. It was a disgraceful assault on our nation. Like many of you, I've decided to take action where and when I can, so I wrote an e-mail to the mayor (sorry so long): Dear Mayor Bernero, I had to take a moment to write you after watching your interview this morning on Fox News. I found your argument compelling and effective in garnering support for our American autoworker retirees up until the point you dropped the bomb on capitalism. You criminalized the opposing guest and "those like him" without any evidence of wrongdoing simply because he believes in and works within the system that made this country great- capitalism. You fail to recognize that this form of economic system is the very reason corporations such as Ford, GM, and Chrysler were allowed to thrive for the better part of a century. Their demise was brought on by factors beyond the market, including the labor unions, government interference, and the greed of some on Wall Street. Those on Wall Street with little moral integrity who chose to abuse the system should face punishment (as should those in government and labor unions with personal agendas), but their misdeeds do not accurately represent the system as a whole. Let us apply your logic to all city, county, and state government officials. Should we also do away with government and the individuals currently holding office because a few use their positions to their personal benefit, often resulting in illegal and impeachable offenses? I think not. You were on the offense unnecessarily, calling the host divisive and hurling contempt where unwarranted. The only divisiveness I witnessed was your obvious attempt at promoting class warfare. You and those like you (to use your accusative words) are attempting to divide and conquer our country by criminalizing those who are within a higher economic class with the assumption that they somehow gained it either by luck or wrongdoing. But of course, those who have attained a reasonable level of personal wealth use the system that you so obviously detest. You might accuse and convict them on this supposed fault alone. I look to them as inspiration and know that in our country, if I am willing to educate myself and work diligently, I can expect a similar result. I wish you the best in the governance of your fine city of Lansing and hope you can understand our concern for its success. We as a nation are hopeful for the recovery of your state economy and the productiveness of its people. True capitalism is not the enemy... it is the answer for renewal in this nation. Convict the criminals, let the markets work, and do away with the bloated middle man and success is inevitable. I beg each of you to do the same each time you see an offense against our nation. If nothing else, you will know you did something and let off a little steam in the process.

Yes, we need a better set-up too... it is hard to navigate around the postings. I don't know what it is called, but with other sites, you have a listing of postings with topics and # of replies to better be able to access what we you are looking for. This scrolling through page after page makes me crazy.

I've been sorely disappointed with highly rated public schools in our area and plan to homeschool in the fall. In preparing for this, I've found that modern day schooling uses a different approach all together. Basically, the kids are fed the info and are expected to regurgitate it for tests- never mind if they actually learn it long-term. Hate to say it, but this is how I learned and I didn't retain much- enough to get mostly A's and a 3.92 gpa in college, but ask me what I remember now- not so much. We plan to use the classical method, in which children's developmental capabilities are taken into consideration. Three phases: 1. grammar (through elementary years) in which the love of learning is instilled with vast amounts of information with hands-on approach- doing is learning. 2. logic (jr high)- once students have an actual base of material to draw from and are physically and cognitively capable of manipulating and analyzing the facts learned, they can draw conclusions effectively. You wouldn't believe some of the homework my 1st grader brings home in which he is asked to use logic he just doesn't have yet. 3. rhetoric (high school)- learn to speak and write with conviction and originality. Also, Charlotte Mason's methods are excellent. I never would have thought I would even consider homeschooling, but this year has been nearly painful... my child is only 7 and is really bright, but detests what seems to be an endless supply of worksheets- his love of learning is fading fast. This classical form of education is the "old" way before psychologists and 'experts' wrecked our schools. Where are we on the list of industrialized nations in math and science? I think maybe 3 from the bottom? There has to be an interest in what is being taught and the methods being used aren't cutting it.

You paint a vivid picture... :) We all need a pep talk now and again. Asmodeuso... Although I've had this book for over a year, I haven't gotten that far. I feel as if I'm in college and it's the end of the quarter. Finals are tomorrow and I haven't been to class once! So much to cram into my head to get a better understanding of it all. I'll get back with an intelligent comment after reading all the other titles in line before The Leap. Your analysis does peak my interest...

I'm not a historian or constitutional authority, but a quick look at history, specifically the supposed ratification of the 14th amendment, makes me more than a little nervous about this proposition. When this amendment was proposed, there was not nearly enough approval to get it passed, so congress basically used extortion via the Reconstruction Act to get this amendment in- southern states were told they would remain under the union's military command until they were given legal state status and that would not be allowed until they agreed to ratify the amendment. Never mind the rumors that their land would be taken and redistributed if they didn't comply- some of this actually happened. It's hard to believe that congress back then was as slimy as it is now, but history tells us otherwise. Now just imagine what goodies the far left might try to get through and assuming Obama is successful in giving amnesty to the millions of illegals in this country, it might be a nightmare in the making. I think the safer route would be to demand our states take back rights granted by the constitution and return to a states first, fed second kind of govt.

High School is not an easy time. Easier to take the path most traveled and most of the time, it's the wrong one. You'll see... those who know themselves early on and aren't afraid to show some heart usually move on quickly to bigger and better things outside of high school. Don't let them get you down. Stay true to yourself and know there are at least 575,000 of us behind you (I'd say the count is closer to several million).

So my 1st grader comes home today with homework for Earth Day. They are to pledge to do something for the earth today. Seems innocent enough, right? You have to give it to them... they use something that everyone should be ready to jump on board for. After all, who wouldn't want to take care of the environment we rely on for our very lives? I am a huge nature lover, but this makes me so mad. Of course, they don't reveal the motive behind the movement... control, power, and the green stuff ($$$).
