I posted this almost a year ago, but it still does apply -- just some background on how we do business, and why, for example, we don't have a detailed write-up about Born to Dive:
"First, we really appreciate comments, and we like constructive comments even better. John and I run this site in addition to being full-time students and working at our other jobs (John is an editor with the WVU newspaper and I'm a sports communications assistant at UGA).
We do this site because it's fun (most of the time), and it helps us stay in contact with friends we've made over the years. We don't do it for money, and we don't do it for fame. Three years ago, we thought the youth ultimate community needed a better place to share news, comments, etc., and we are proud of what we have built.
With our site, what you see is what you get. The state of Ultimate, especially youth ultimate, is still growing and developing. To name just a few challenges we face, there aren't sports information or athletic directors that we can call to get interviews, very few teams have websites with roster and contact information, and there's almost never a press release/box score published from tournaments/games. Other sports' sites have access to such information, as well as huge staffs, research departments, etc. We're just two guys, who along with a couple of others, who put a ton of unpaid time and effort into the site by writing, learning, and talking about ultimate. For us, it's a hobby, not a job. When possible, we try to talk to coaches/players to get their opinions, but often the story is "old news" by the time we are able to get a response.
We obviously don't have the time or money to do much traveling to events, but we try to when it's close and economical. And, although you're certainly entitled to your opinion about what we do, the site has many readers--we have several hundred hits every day, many of whom stay on the site for a substantial amount of time.
We would love to welcome new writers and contributors who could offer more news and insight from around the country and the world, and have tried really hard to get some, but haven't had much sustained luck (although a few people have contributed from time to time and we appreciate that!). If you would like to contribute, or offer constructive criticism pop us an email. We would love to hear from you.
John and I wish that we had unlimited resources and time to pour into YouthUltimate.com . We wish that we could travel to every tournament, provide live video/audio feeds and give live scoring, and regularly write long, extensive articles breaking new ground, but we can't (though we certainly try our best).
Bottom line is this: If you don't like the site, don't visit it - but if you do, thanks, and keep on supporting ultimate, especially in junior high and high schools.

First, thanks for helping to promote youth ultimate--it really means a lot for the growth of the sport. The original post regarding the UPA's changes is incorrect. The site that is linked is of YouthUltimate.com, not the UPA. The information can also be found on upa.org, I compiled it from a few different places into what is hopefully a more reader friendly format,
While I know this isn't going to be the last change to the youth division, it is a very large one. I just think that it is a catchy title.
Thanks,
Michael Terry
