Good call, never really had a problem with a330s before this, but after this whole inconclusive investigation I am even more fond of Boeing widebodies

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Appeal to halt new UW dorm over "extraordinary" tree | University District News

UW is one of the top schools in the world with a great architecture program and this is the building they come up with? I am all for saving or incorporating the tree into the design, but I really cant get over how boring and plain this new dorm looks.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : NASA finds new life form right here on Earth | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO N

I see that despite the fact that you tried to prove my comment was wrong, you failed to see at the end I clearly stated that the discovery IS exciting/important! "The definition of life has just expanded,"(NASA website) Yes very exciting, but your comment that humans have NEVER found anything like this is totally wrong. All other findings concerning the diversity of life and its structure pale in comparison to this according to your statement.

It IS a let down because NASA's announcement generated tons of speculation that the discovery was extraterrestrial. So discovering a new bacteria that can substitute an element for growth opens up new possibilities concerning life as we understand it, it doesn't hold ground in excitement against ANY type of extraterrestrial life discovery. Searching caves and deep sea environments often turn up new and complex ways life has adapted in harsh environments, and this just adds to those previous findings...SO to answer your question, NO, "alien" life forms found on this planet are not nearly as exciting because we have found many "alien" life forms before this. I am not saying this discovery isn't exciting/important!

Same, I am listening to an episode from 01 with Rabbi Schmuley Boteach right now...I never listened to them when they were actually on but have listened to almost every episode from 96 on up. I really wish I would have listened to them when I was a teenager and they were actually on the air...

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Drama in the cockpit: Qantas crew faced unprecedented chaos | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breakin

One good thing about flying on the A380 is that the airlines that can afford to fly them also can afford some the best pilots in the world, I am sure if this incident happened with Lufthansa, Emirates, Air France or Singapore it would have been handled in the same manner as the Qantas flight crew. I am not downplaying the actions and skills of the Qantas crew, just stating an opinion. Great Job by them and I am sure they are getting TONS of thanks from not only the passengers but also Airbus and Qantas. Not hating on Airbus but as always; GO BOEING

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Qantas CEO: \'faulty design\' may be behind engine blowout | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking

Of course we will have to wait and see, But life would suck If you weren't allowed to discuss potential outcomes of this type of stuff. And i only believe what the CEO is saying because I believe he is correct, Airbus had NO part in designing the compressor disk that looks to have failed...So if anything it will come down to maintenance with Qantas/RR. But once again in my opinion the engine is WAY to new to be anything but a design flaw or manufacturing defect, which both come down on RR.

Hey remember yesterday when I said this was Rolls Royces problem? "This is an engine issue and the engines have been maintained by Rolls-Royce since they were installed on the aircraft," What is your argument against airbus now that the customer is blaming RR?

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Qantas grounds A380 fleet after engine blow out | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOM

NO! Boeing engineers designed those wings, Mitsubishi only built them, So if there is a problem It will either be blamed on engineering or a manufacturing defect. Boeing also has a huge quality control system in place. The complexity of a jet engine does not allow airbus or Boeing to have a team to reverse engineer every aspect of every engine that is bolted to their planes. You should just as quickly be blaming Qantas, they chose RR, they could have gone engine alliance like Emirates, but they wanted rolls just like their 747s. the problem is that you arent accepting that the airframe and engines are SEPARATE! Of course airbus will be down there troubleshooting, but this is a ROLLS ROYCE problem. This inst a car where some oem part goes bad, these are two separate huge engineering marvels working in tandem. So yes, airbus will be helping solve the problem but it is not a 'Airbus problem". If it were Any other system on the plane it would fall only on them because those systems are under there direct engineering control! Go watch the PBS documentary on making the 777 and you will better understand the relationship between the customer, airframe manufacture and engine builder, because obviously you don't know how it works.
