Apparently his story is true, I am sure it will be torn apart by people looking to find error or misrepresentation. I am glad he is willing to share it, and most likely it has been very cathartic for him. I am grateful for any veteran that will tell their story.

Part of the reason there is such a huge disconnect between veterans and civilians is that the veterans are not willing, or able, to share their experiences to educate the general population. And the general population needs to step up, pay attention, and give a damn. Vietnam era started the myth of you have to be a combat vet to understand. It isn't true. Not everyone can tell their story, and I respect that, but if this guy can then more power to him. Talking about it is one of the most powerful healing things a veteran can do. What is wrong is when veterans inflate their stories or tell ones that didn't happen. Those guys are very easy to distinguish and I have zero respect for them..

From the video it looks as if these people use grants to travel all over on a donated dime i.e. Hawaii. How nice for them. They just received a grant for 20 grand, how is that money spent? What does the workshop cost?
I want to see the video of these 3rd graders writing these lyrics.

I guess I am missing something, not that I don't love our guys, but whatever it was they were doing it didn't look too efficient. How much did it cost to fly those few boxes? How come they aren't flying in big huge flats of relief by Chinooks like they do for the military in the war?

I can tell you one thing, most women I have supported w/care packages were picky and expensive w/their requests, not all, but most. The guys, easy as pie, just grateful for anything. Men never worry about looking pretty and feeling like a girl in a war zone, unlike the women I know. I take that back, I did have one Marine ask for hair gel so he could look "hot", his words, not mine, and he was in Iraq. Not sure who or what he wanted to look hot for, but he got his hair gel.

Women in combat....not a good idea. Pilots, admin, medical, support all fine and good. I would like to see the long waiting list of women just chomping at the bit to serve in combat units.
