My family is having a HUGE party this Saturday (tomorrow) for my grampa who is turning 100 on the 19th. He has six children, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. On the side- many, many cousins. A big reunion! :) ...and Happy, Happy Birthday, Helen!!

As a puny little Italian woman (and I'm watching my mouth) I would kick his ass so hard you could see my toes coming out of his mouth! I'd probably come out of there with a broken nose and half of my hair ripped out, that definitely wouldn't stop me anyway!!! My kids were bratty in public when they were little every now and then, everyone has had them. I'm sure many of you moms have said this before but my kids would know the words, "Do you want to go to the bathroom?"........

Here goes another education (teachers) and politics. As a teacher, "No Child Left Behind" is crap. It was crap from the beginning. Schools are not here to raise the children. We're giving them "education". Raising kids are 20% schools and 80% parents (guardians). The household has to do it's job for their children. Now, as far as WASL goes, oh my gosh. Oh my gosh! It drives me nuts! Who cares about graduating kids about their WASL scores? There are SEVERAL students who have 4.0 GPAs and sometimes they don't do well on there WASL. What happens? "Sorry- you can't graduate." Wha??? On the other hand- WASL is excellent for educating the children. Our teaching is only preparing each child for the test. In the beginning, we thought to teach our students for the test is absurd, but actually the children LEARNED. The test is fine, too. You can use the scores for many other reasons, but NOT to the students, who try so hard, to graduate. And another thing, which most people have never heard this- each school will get a score for how many children in their school meets the standards. Our school is filled with special ed and ESL. ??? Spec. Ed and ESL scores gets counted in our schools, too. ESL can't even read, so their score is a big 0. Spec. Ed. usually can not complete the test, either. So, that makes our school really low. If our school's score is low- "we get in trouble" or our teachers suck at teaching. That makes no sense. They can even fire a teacher, if they want to, if the teacher's student's WASL standards do not meet the criteria.
