Wonder if "None of the above" will be on the ballot again this year. That seems to be the only person who has a clue on how to run the country without alienating the world. "Heavy sigh"

Ellies is great! Its sort of like a Sno Co version of Beths in Seattle. BTW, this parking lot is shared by many businesses, including the Smokey Point US Post Office, a car repair place, et al. Anyway, hope the cause is found soon...hate to see these stories which happen very infrequently in this area. Condolences to this person's family as well, a person dying in their 40's is still way too young, regardless of circumstances.

Just goes to show American media is totally worthless on facts. I do, however, enjoy them for entertainment value!

Our hats are off to her as well has her predecessor, Mo Yahyavi, for a program that actually went well despite roadblocks in the way from the 787 program blow over. I personally am not a easy one to convince, but the efficiencies of the new 747-8 program were definitely directed by a team led by a top director who has our trust and admiration. That being said having been involved in two recent test programs, the 787 and the new 747. I'm not an easy one to convince, having seen the "soup du jour" in management style over the many years I've worked on various programs. Ms. Lund and her team got results on the new 747-8 program, and it carried over to our test and validation program afterwards. She and her team are well worth the money Boeing invested in her and her team's ideas to make it run smoothly....and most of all, she actually "listened" to her team!

The secret behind all of this? Ms. Lund involved all parties from the top down to make it that way, it was not a "one person show". As such, she is worth her pay and much more....something she can build on as she now runs one of the hardest assembly lines..the grand old 747 line. And this coming from a veteran who has not only worked in production, but also is a "internal customer" by being part of the Boeing Test and Evaluation group. The end result is we as a group received from her group a product ready for certfication testing.....and continue to have that support all the way through the lab and flight test process as well a post certfication the refurishment of the test aircraft. So yes, some managers such as her can make their way by assembling a team that can get the job done efficiently, thoughtfully, and on time. Our group is more than happy with the support she and her team contributed not only to the 777 program (a group renown for their innovation and timeliness), but her leadership also contributed greatly to the success of the recent build/test/certification of the new 747-8 program as well.

I can only comment on one of the managers, and that is Ms. Lund. She most definitely earned her way through the merit system, and helped considerably adapt a whole new production system when she held a similar role on the 777 line. I've been at Boeing for many years, and have seen managers come and go, but her policies and procedures transformation on that assembly line have led to margins of productivity never seen before. Early on, even I was a naysayer.....but the results proved otherwise. As a result, the 777 line is far more lean, efficient and safer place to work at than it was ever before. This being on a program that set the benchmark for effiencies!

That is pretty awesome Sid! My late grandmother was a "Rosie the riveter" during WW2 at Plant 2 during the war. Those ladies carried their weight back then or where shown the door. Very proud to hear your story and those others who served the US back then while the "boys were away at war". Sad part is after the war, despite those women's competencies, many were asked to make way for the returning soldiers coming back home....despite making record numbers of airplanes (and tanks, guns, munitions, et al, to support the war effort). Today is a far different world, thank goodness
