HGTV Green Home : HGTV Green Home 2010: First Location Clue

I am confused....the arch is in St. Louis, unless there is one somewhere else that we don't know about. But the rest of the photos point to the east coast. There are light house's in Michigan, but the Arch again seems out of place. All my research and I still don't find another arch.....

HGTV Dream Home : Enter to Win ... Then Help Haiti

It has been just over a month since I started volunteering with the Red Cross, I am so happy to be part of this great organization. I never realized how quickly the American Red Cross would be called to Disaster Relief. I don't have all my training and I haven't qualified for international disaster yet, but I encourage anyone who has an afternoon to donate, Please join. It may only be paperwork or phones, but you are helping. You could train to be an instructor for CPR or assist those needing help after a house fire. I encourage all who are wishing to help to visit the American Red Cross, locate your local chapter and call today.

HGTV Dream Home : But Where's The Grocery Store?

Thanks Super Fan Gail...I am always at the ready for more information. I love this home, I admit that I do have moments where I wonder about the taxes and the price of items. But then shortly after I am back dreaming the dream. I for one LOVE the wide open spaces, but am glad to hear with these gas prices that I won't have to go to the big city for the groceries. Thanks so much for all your hard work and for your answers.

HGTV Dream Home : For the Newbies

I haven't seen this comment before so I will give everyone this bit of info....GUEST BATHROOM. If you go to the photo section, and then go to the home office, pages 11 & 12 are of the bath between the office and media room. I can't tell you how many times I must have skipped over this section while taking my photo tours, I guess I thought that the office didn't have anymore to offer that I hadn't already seen. Hope this helps those who are still looking for information about that guest bath.

I know you are right, but I just had that moment of weakness when the glass wasn't half full. LOL I am thrilled with this dream home and will happily live there as long as I can. Thanks for all your blogs, I look forward to reading them each day.

Ann, there is the recycle room but that wouldn't really work for Christmas. If you don't have small children the play house would work. If nothing else you can use the garage. That back panel where the bike is is designed for lots of items. You get brackets that go into the grooves and then you can add shelving or just hooks. I would say that a tall ladder would be in order.

Good Morning to all, and Good Luck. I must admit that normally I am a "glass half full" person, but I just took my morning tour of the house and checked out the products portion of this site. Has anyone else questioned the items in the home in regard to price. As we are all well aware, these items will be taxed and the winner will be paying that tax. Now I love the decor and the house, but when they shop in New York at Ethan Allan and buy a vase of flowers in fake water, why would they pay over $100, much less over $300. I don't know about anyone else but I like the best, which in my opinion also includes the best price. Please I say one more time don't get me wrong, I love the house and would gladly win and live there if possible. However, I would much rather pay taxes on items that are reasonably priced. Don't spend $600 on something that I will neither notice nor care about when you could spend $100 and not lose the design quality or the look. Feeling better about my little corner of the world now I will just say Good Luck to All!!!

Reneelovesgreen, I was thinking that since everyone is on well water that they would not admit a water feature as it may contribute to the lack of water for others. Don't know for sure, just a guess.

Good Morning Leah, there is a bath for day guests located between the media room and the home office, they don't really address this but it is found on the floor plan, and when you watch the video for the 100th time you can see the door.

Sheila, Thanks so much for the info. I am pretty good with the sewing machine but this is so simple. I think the most complicated thing will be finding the right wool. I would imagine that the artist that created Monica's also has a supplier that weaves the fabric. I think I feel another web search coming on.

Ernie, I am not sure of the backyard and the pool, there is a pool at the community center and you wouldn't have the wildlife in your back yard drinking the water. Queen size in the Master Suite, would be nice to see a king size.

The sad truth is that the original taxes would be around 700K-750K, that would be the taxes on the money home and vehicle. Gift taxes are much higher. Property taxes would be around 10K per year with the HOA dues each year around 2500-3000. Yes it is a big chunk to bite off, but if you could sell your current home (if), and then take out a mortgage for the rest of the original taxes after the 500K, it might be doable. Each person who dreams will have their own solutions, sorry to say many of them will choose to sell right away. Keep dreaming.

The only real photos are a portion of the original series, you can watch this again online and fast forward to the play house section. It's cute I must say, and it's not overly girlie so it would work for your son as well.

Chrischelle Bruce, #1, the home has radiant floor heating which runs through the floors in every room with 18 thermostats (not sure exactly where they are located) there is a mechanics room that house the end of these tubes and available for any maintenance required. Radiant floor heating is fantastic (I think) You get the heat coming from the floor, subtle and no dry air blowing out a vent anywhere. Because it comes from the floor you don't have the air at your ceiling the hottest air in the home. #2, I have suggested that selling some of the furniture on ebay would work, there would be lots of people who like high end furniture and from the Dream Home would be another selling point. #3. Honestly I don't think that you are required to move in, you could put this home up for sale right away if that is your choice. There would be the key transfer and the party to attend, but then I think it would be up to you. Good Luck

M. Mengle I have wondered about, selling some of the high end furniture that I don't care for on ebay and getting some of the local stuff for the house. But then it wouldn't be the same look, the designers have made it beautiful whether it is our tastes or not. One thing about it whom ever wins this grand home and do what ever they like. Good luck to you.
