This is not the first time there has been significant rain and flooding in either T/go or T/dad. There has been heavy rains, strong winds and damaging landslides in T/go in the past... 51 years ago on Sept. 30th. 1963 T/go. was hit by a devastating hurricane, winds of 115 miles per hr. destroying almost the entire island. Flooding has been a major problem in T/dad even before the building of the highway began.

@ tide55..... I agree with you. Fear and ignorance of Ebola is causing panic in T&T. .. If this woman had the disease, then everyone on board that plane who entered T/dad should have been quarantined for at least 21 days including the immigration officer who interviewed her, he was allowed to go home to his family. What part of the airport was she held before been placed on a flight back to Nigeria.. Nigeria was declared Ebola free, no new cases have been reported within the past 40 days. This makes it very unlikely that she has the virus. Sending her back but allowing the other passengers to enter T&T proves the ignorance about the disease in T&T.

@ TriniSweetEnt..........Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bisessar visited Kublalsingh at St Clair Medical Centre but said her visit was not to discuss the controversial Point Fortin highway but to show concern for his health.

Madame PM you are only fooling some of the people. If you were truly concerned bout Dr. Kublalsingh health you would have visited him 25 days ago. To me refusing to meet with him shows poor leadership. Madame PM you agreed to and your administration funded the commission of inquiry. When the report now known as the ‘Armstrong Report’ was revealed you refused to agree with it’s findings. The court then became involved and you refused to abide by their fin dings. Constitutionally we are all bound by court’s instructions. When the courts issues instructions for jail time as penalty the convicted cannot refuse to serve that time.

Dr. Kublalsingh is not objecting to the Highway, only one segment, because of the environmental effect it MAY have, why can’t the PM meet with him (HRM) to discuss this. Why wait until the man is at death’s door to visit him? In the end even if Dr. Kublalsingh dies, some one will be seen as strong, it may not be you Madame PM

@ zandolee ....... I think Senior Counsel Martin Daly has made an excellent point. No one including Dr Wayne Kublalsingh is saying that the Highway from S/do to Point is not needed. The contention is the route from Debe to Mon Desir.

I am not taking sides, however, no one deserves to die. This is the point that . Senior Counsel Martin Daly is making.. What I do not understand is this. Why did the PM agree and even endorsed the Highway Review Committee (HRC) to commission a committee chaired by Dr James Armstrong to investigate the economic, environmental and social impacts of the section, then refuse to even consider it’s findings? Is she defying the constitution by ignoring a court order? If the Highway continues to be built and may even be completed, then the courts rule in the Highway Review Committee’s favor. What then?

What is interesting here is, the Highway is not a PP initiative, this was on the drawing board under the previous administration.

This is my unbiased opinion.

@ geolin.....You seem to have all the answers to the criminal activities in T&T. Most, if not all of what you said, is an opinion (yours) and not based on fact. While I agree that there are corrupt officers, the majority risk their lives daily trying to get these criminals off the streets and make it safe for citizens. No one likes been shot at. When a police officer leaves home (his family) he may not return because criminals bent of committing crimes see the police as the enemy to their unlawful acts.

This is not only a problem for the police but the Govt. has to find a way to reduce crime. Do you remember during the election campaign the PP promised to reduce crime in 120 days. Today is day 1,584 and crime is still as it was or maybe worst than it was on May 24th. 2010. Mr. Warner as Min. of Nat. Sec. said he had a plan to fight crime, what happened? He even refused to leave the country because he wanted to stay in T&T to reduce crime. What happened? You’re putting all the blame on the police.

@ Doublesman....I do not agree with Dr. Kublalsingh putting his life at risk but I'm amazed at people like you who make statements that you cannot substantiate. What proof do you have that he's not on a hunger strike. Because he decided to sit outside the PM's office from 9am - 1pm and not and not 9a. - 5pm.. that you determine. Your comment is based on an opinion (yours) and not supported by fact.

People are trying to dissuade Dr.Wayne Kublalsingh from going on the hunger strike but I'm yet to see anyone trying to dissuade the Govt. from continuing the construction of the Highway until a decision has been made by the court.. I do not agree with Dr. Kublalsingh putting his life at risk but at the same time I do not agree with the Govt. ignoring the Armstrong report which is before the court. My concern is this. As the construction of the Highway continues, what if the decision of the court goes against the Govt. are they going to abandon this construction and re-route the Highway? What then happens to the millions of taxpayers money that will be spent on cost over-run? Yes, a Highway from San/do to Point is desperately needed, it will improve the lives of many and boosts the economy but through the Armstrong Report the route is in question. By ignoring the decision of the court (if it goes against them) the Govt. will be defying the constitution.

"Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London is hoping that Finance Minister Larry Howai, in his 2015 budget presentation, will be more sensitive to the needs of the people of Tobago"

Mr. London please do not expect the Min. of Finance to give special consideration to T/go in this budget. .The people of T/go overwhelming rejected the PP in the THA election. This budget has to be approved by the Kamla, do you really think she has the interest of Tobagonians at heart after they rejected her party?.

@ columbianwoman ....Where have you been for the past 4 years? Maybe you are unaware, in fact how could you not be aware of the lack of integrity, transparency and honesty in this administration. Why do you think the PM had to re-shuffle the cabinet three times? Why do you think in three years 20 ministers are no longer in cabinet? The number of mistakes and miss-steps are too numerous to mention here. Your justification of good governance is giving school children laptops and building a highway? Wow!
