Check out the environmentally friendly practices of Musk and Matheson by observing the noxious smoke that pours out of The Kitchen's smokestack. It reminds me of the pollution from the mills in Pittsburgh. Only it smells worse!

Wish Boulder wood burning restaurants would stop polluting. It was amazing on Thanksgiving when both Salt and The Kitchen were closed. No stink or smoke in that area.

Boulder has no restrictions on wood burning restaurants. There are 8 woodburners that we know of in a 1 mile square area downtown. Consumers could change this. We hope they do. We should say no to this pollution.

Hey Rachel. What happens to all the smoke and noxious fumes from the impressive wood burning oven? I'll tell you. Seven days a week, about twelve hours a day, that pollution goes all over downtown Boulder. Google "wood burning and cancer" and you will see what I mean. Something for all you eco-friendly, green, eco-responsible diners to think about.

There is nothing wrong with high density housing in a downtown. This is what keeps a downtown vibrant. Exactly how many private homes would fit on Arete's footprint? I agree about the speculators but there is no reason why we can't dispense with them and as a society build well-constructed, affordable, high density housing.

Nicole....Here's a simple step the City of Boulder can take to combat air pollution. Get rid of woodburning restaurants! Day after day they pump noxious fumes over the downtown. People often say problems are too big and we have no control over what happens in the city. Well , all you residents that care about Boulder , let's demand that something be done. Woodburning = air pollution=poor health.

Boulder has more pollution than any town of this size I've visited or lived in. How about one simple idea. Ban woodburning restaurants. In a 4 block area right on Pearl St. I know of 4 of them ! Why would the community allow this to go on day after day ? I guess business trumps our health.
