After weighing options, the SATP decided to go as a regular corporation, not a non-profit because the income in and money out would just about equal zero and there would be no taxes to pay at the end of a year. Others might think about doing that. Just make sure there is no actual "income." It also frees up the TEA Party to actually get involved more politically. Growing up in West Texas, we were taught about the Statue, saw pictures of her, and most of us thought we would never be able to see her in person. But, there I was, standing on Liberty Island, in the wind and rain, freezing, staring up at the most beautiful sight I could have imagined. I had the priviledge of visiting New York in 2006. There were 2 things that were must, non-negotiable, sites my friend and I had to visit. The first was Ground Zero. The second was the Country's statue, the Statue of Liberty My family came from Ireland and the first thing they saw before landing at Ellis Island, was that glorious lady standing in the harbor, welcoming them to a Country where they had opportunities that they never would have had back home.
