We also only had guns for hunting. My husband recently got a handgun because of concern. We also don't live in the best neighborhood : ) There has been a spike in crime and we aren't ones to sit around waiting for someone else to protect us. It is funny - hunting is a way to provide for yourself and get high quality food - but people think it is cruel and having the government hand you your ration is a much more humane thing...

Then I guess more and more of us seem to be going "crazy" ...
I personally don't think criminals were released for this specific purpose, but it has certianly gone through my mind that someone somewhere has had something to do with it. This is the exact "crisis" scenario that this administration has been waiting for - what do you want to be there will be another shooting today or tomorrow. Maybe even a church one - it is a Sunday after all. Another thing I wondered was if the media is simply reporting on these more right now. Does this stuff happen on a more regular basis and we just don't hear about it? I saw the headline about the Washington incident and, sadly, I was hoping the guy killed the children by smothering them or something - then I read the story and, sure enough, they were shot.

When they come to take the registered weapons - what if they went missing since the time you purchased them? Will they toss you in jail?

It looks like a murder-suicide, but the guy killed (by shooting, of course) his 5 children. What are the odds of all of these shootings happening in such a short period of time - or do you think it is an issue of the media suddenly reporting all of these?

The news is now reporting that the guy in PA was worried the government was going to take away his right to own guns - if that is true he was a total nutcase and should realize it was a self fullfilling prophecy. His actions are gonna screw the rest of us!!!!!

I am getting very worried about all of the shooting events lately - now there was one in Washington. This is creating the exact situation that could be used to declare a need to ban weapons. Now it is coming out that the guy in Pittsburg was worried about Obama banning guns. People - if you are worried about that - DON'T GO AROUND SHOOTING OFFICERS!!!!! We neeeeeeeed to try this in a peaceful manner!!! Don't force everyones hand - we are not ready for that. Please realize that right now we are at a point that it will end very badly!
