I know it must be exhausting having to host the cognitive dissonance of a 6th Century mentality while living in the 21st century all day, everyday, all of your life. She can solve her own problem. Stop being Muslim.

I'm outraged by her outrage. If Muslims wouldn't go around hacking people to death in the street and flying planes into buildings in the name of their religion then there wouldn't be so much public outrage hatred toward that religion.

If I was a member of a group of say, middle-class white men, that had demonstrated a propensity for specific violence based on the teachings of a random 1500 year old book. A club where the men were killing people at random in the streets, bombing schools, throwing acid in the face of girls that want to be educated, I think I would end my membership in that club and would no longer associate with its members. If you want to remain a member of an organization that endorses violence against innocent people as such, practices that violence regularly in disgusting and inhuman ways, then you deserve to be exhausted trying to defend it.

Right wing authoritarianism has usurped Republican ideas inside its own party. They don't accept "facts" from out-groups. They have retreated to their Fox News bubble and that's where they receive all of their information. No matter how much data and information you throw at them to show them it's wrong they don't care because they consider the information suspect because it didn't originate from their in-group source.

Religious people are especially prone to becoming RWA followers because of the suspension of disbelief associated with religion is applied to all parts of their lives, the political, the social, the economic, etc. That's why you see it more in the conservatives and the right of politics.

And if someone in the in-group says something against the group, guess what, they are removed from the group. They are separated and culled from the herd by the group itself. Thereby keeping the bubble pure and whole.

Apparently Cephus. I've been at a loss for weeks about this. Like I said when you (and I consider myself a liberal) get told you're a racist/misogynist/supporter of rape culture it invites a little introspection, at least it should and it did for me. But I have introspected and I still don't get it. I understand that I won't completely understand because I have only lived a white male life but I have a fair ability to empathize while not the same as living the experience can offer perspective, that I will admit, maybe, I haven't gained. But I don't think I can empathize with the position completely because it has gone to an illogical, irrational extreme. Or maybe I'm wrong I'm part of the problem because my brain was "damaged" by testosterone.

Part of what problem? I still don't get how by not raping people and not condoning rape I'm part of any rape problem. I'm still very confused about how my not doing X and not condoning X is contributing to proliferation of X. I'm not being facetious. Maybe I don't understand the problem that I am a part of.

I think the term "rape culture" trivializes rape and actually turns allies of a cause to apathy. Just as it did me. I was on the side of feminists but since it seems I didn't go far enough in demonizing comedians for using free speech to entertain, or castigating socially awkward men (which could have easily been me) for asking a girl for a cup of coffee I was deemed not worthy of being on that team. So, I'm not anymore. I don't like radicals of any sort.

It's also a term that is condescending to the user and shows them to be passive agressive. It's certainly away of stopping discussion or conversation. I don't have the time or energy to investigate every loony, PC, term for every cause du jour; especially terms and words that are meant to sanitize our culture and language and make us less open to dialog and discussion. I have no use for them. I believe terms like "rape culture" have the opposite effect of what they are supposed to do.

Just picking up from context what "rape culture" means and after a little investigation I determined I do not contribute to it at all. I have never raped anyone. I have never rallied for rape nor do I condone rape of any kind sexual, mental, physical or emotional therefore I do not contribute to rape or it's culture.

There was a large amount of introspection as I am keen to checking myself before I wreck myself. I have a wife and grew up with 5 sisters, I'm the farthest from a woman-hater you would ever meet. Just like I don't need to investigate white supremacy because I don't believe that any race is superior to another.

By saying that this got out of hand and that the reaction to Elevatorgate was an overreaction to social clumsiness I have been LABELED a misogynist and supporter of "rape culture." I don't even know what the hell "rape culture" is. I feel I have been ostracized from my local group that is now infiltrated by a coven of Skepchick worshippers because I won't be an apologist for their false victimhood. So, to say I'm a little angered by this situation is an understatement. So, this allegedly free thought community is now the bastion of thought-squashing radical feminism. I don't want any part of male assholes telling women they want them to get raped, I also don't want any part of a community that has been hijacked by people that think my brain has been "damaged" by testosterone.

I did the interview today. It was like Socratic therapy. I made a few realizations about myself and the world that I did not know, or had not taken the time to reason out or question. Took about an hour and was a pretty good experience for me anyways. Some of you older and wiser folks may already have made some them that I made while responding to these questions.

Bigotry, according to the dictionary, is a "stubborn and complete intolerance of any creed, belief, or opinion that differs from one's own." So, yes it is exactly like racism.

I was born and raised in Indiana, which is often confused about which side of the Civil War they fought on, Virginia and currently Texas, safety is a concern. My son is harassed at school because he tells his friends that he doesn't believe in god. He's a pretty smart kid, so it's not something I pushed on him. Simply did a thought exercise, would like to see his eyes when he applies it to Santa Claus.

I have been flipped off while driving multiple times I'm assuming my stationwagon can't be that offensive so it must be the Darwin fish.
