The Scratching Shed : The Word Of Ken: Post Deadline Day Special

i think that wouldnt half be a good piece of journalism. And a good reminder as to that shocking episode where we couldnt sign any players for an entire summer (a bit like this summer) where the HMRC were on the verge of winding us up, and where at least 2 other serious bidders offered more than Bates, but were told by Astor Investments that they would only accept Bates bid and thence the voting process for the CVA was weighted towards Bates.

This suggests that we were expecting Max Gradel to go. So on that basis why all the bluff about we dont need to sign Mendy? or the much trotted out - we dont need to look at the forward positions.. I think like all good bullsh1t this is sprinkled with truth, but what i get from this, and from Graysons statemwent is that Ken has kept the dosh away from Grayson right up until the last minute and personally I think thats disgraceful. This is Bates' doing, and we're sat here with a threadbare squad as a result.

The Scratching Shed : Boycotting Manchester United Game Won't Work

i have reas that on a number of rumour sites, but i think it could well be speculation. I would find it hard to swallow if I were Grayson and Bates had banked the amount of money he has to then likely be told - no nothing for team building. most of our rivals would love to see Grayson at the helm so it is a consideration - will Grayson walk? Hes a better man than I am, because I would have walked long ago.

i think the message we give out is `our club, not Bates'' Bates' approach is as ludicrous as the head of Yorkshire water claiming he owns The River Aire. Dead right TSS, therewere other buyers, and ones who may have made a better stick of it, they certainly offered more cash up front to the administrators. I think youre being naive though if you think Bates wouldnt throw a strop and wind the club up if he reached the point of no return, Just watch it happen, at that point he is so bl**dy minded I'm sure he would. Bates needs to remember there wouldnt be a club without the fans as a 60%> contributor of cash we are the major investors.

All summer we've had this sh1t, waiting for something on the official website to happen and all we see is an assortement of "Why not Spend £300 to watch Carlisle in style". "Big reductions on Golfwear" "Why not bet £100 on Leeds winning?" - because they f**king well wont in answer to the last one.

SOmethings not right, thats for sure. We are behaving like we have the financial clout of Port Vale, our turnover, wage bill and recent profits would suggest some money should be available. Given £1.5M for Schmeichel, allegedly £5M for gradel, plus wages saved on all players who left over the summer to yesterday (thats 8 players) and even taking into account the 5 who came in our cashflow should be up by nearly £6M at least for the year? we can only hope its because Bates is pulling his horns in and is ready to go, but i doubt it, I suspect we have a big Tax Bill or something to this effect to settle.

@TSS when are we getting a `Moron' T Shirt on the site? perhaps we could have `Mug' on the rear? after all its what Bates thinks of the people who put £14M a year into his pot just through the turnstiles?

so your proposal is to stop going to games? the answer for me is to follow the Gandhi route of peaceful protest. Go to the games. Dont spend on merchandise, dont spend on LUTV, dont buy drinks or food or programmes. Wear a particular colour like the man u fans did to show your disagreement, possibly blue (it is after all one of our original colours) anything to stand out on tv. Support the team, hit bates where it hurts in his pocket, and dont give him the audience he craves. If anything stop wirting to him - start writing to potential investors.

the yep has a good report this morning about what nearly happened.. Paynter was on his way to Brighton, but they wouldnt meet our £250K asking price (optimistic on our part I think) Cov City were buoyed by some sell on transfer funds so averted the need to sell Clingan (another one off the post) and of course Lichaj went and injured himself against Hereford, and he was supposed to be joining. Its like so many of those chats I've had with my gaffer about preparation (or lack of it usually) that when things are left to the last minute and there is no plan in place then you are at the mercy of lady luck, and shes never been kind to Leeds. Yes as usual it will be the loan market and the close to £6M of transfer funds we've raised, plus saved wages for Kilkenny, Johnson, Grella, Bessone, Schmeicel, Gradel will mysteriously vanish. As will the TV money for Man Utd, our trumped up season ticket prices. As a finance man I've seen many businesses present a picture on their balance sheet that suits them, for me something stinks to high heaven at Elland Road, but Ken's approach will probably now sadly bear fruit in relegation, hes taken his eye off developing the team for too long.

Its all got a bit too much hasnt it, and to be fair after 7 years out of the top flight even the optimism of the best of is tried to its limit. hen you think back to 2000 and what we'd have thought if these same clubs were sniffing round our players what the reaction would be? well quite frankly it doesnt bear thinking about. I still beilieve our time will come, but not until we get a chairman with some vision - no not laser enhanced vision like Ken, but someone who understands successful football clubs play good football, with the best players they can. Where is that White Knight? I'm getting bored waiting.

dream on, beckford will have been on close to £20K at Everton, we'd never match that, even with the £3m> that weve just banked.... as per usual our self imposed restrictions will prevent that. Expect no movement today, then emergency loans, and come the summer it'll be as if the £1M for Schmeicel, and £3M for Max just never came in.... the only transfer I'd like to see is a new owner in, and i wouldnt mind seeing bates go for nothing, but that wont happen.

Apparently Coventry have now pulled out of the deal, opting for a goalscoring striker from Norwich.. now come on Gus? think of all the adulation you had from Leeds fans, one last favour..... and what about you Sven, you've got all that wadge burning a hole in your pocket? surely every side needs a player in the role of what i like to call Striking `decoy' your basic central defender cant tell the difference between a striker and a convincing replica - like our Bill. Deploy him to drag defenders out of position - little do they know their goal is in no danger from him and wham - your real strikers goes in.

a good shout Henry, i also think we will sign Keogh today with the gradel money, or some of it.... If weve turned down £2.5M from West Ham and £3M from Sochaux, then we have to have received a larger or at worst a cash up front offer. If we offload Payntr today too then it oils the wheels so to speak, and our only obstacle(s) are the lack of time, and Grumpy Uncle Ken.
