And another thing Mr Gauke, Fish. If fishing rights are so insignificant that holding on to them represents "a triumph of political sentiment over economics" then just why are the French, Dutch, Danes etc getting so stroppy about it already?

I do wish Mr. Gauke would stop referring to the content of Treasury analysis reports that date back to Philip Hammond's time as Chancellor as being "the government's analysis". It is a load of pessimistic nonsense.

Bitcoin is the fastest and least tracable way out. But probably best not to leave it there for long. You can buy citizenship of Vanuatu for about £100k, and if Corbyn gets in even at the head of a coalition of fools, I'm off there. South seas and volcanos, here I come.

+1 uptick. I agree with your an analysis. The monies paid to the EU for leaving are regrettable but unavoidable resedue of the capitulard Theresa May negotiations. As a price for being rid of the EU it is well worth it. WRT future fishing rights and the enforvability of the Political Declaration, again I agree. Thamk you for a very good posting, and rebuttal of a Johnson-deal sceptic.

Good comment, you are right. When the history of Brexit comes to be written, it will be seen that the Remainers (which includes Theresa May and Philip Hammond) had infact won by 31st March, as TMs deal was a BRINO that would have left the UK in a very bad place. In a very few years time the EU could turn round to us and say "well if you dont like your current arrangements you can always rejoin you know" and we would have had to agree.
The Remainiacs missed their main chance by blocking TM's wretched Withdrawal Agreement IMHO.

Upticks

Dear God why? Now more than ever the Conservatives need the courage of their convictions. Brexit is not over, a bodged negotiation of the FTA will still queer the entire pitch. No Deal must still be an option up to end of 2020, or we will get shafted in the next stage of negotiations. These ten are proven to be untrustworthy, who will defy a three line whip to help the EU cause.
Stupid, stupid stupid.

Wholly agree with the above article. The next Conservative Government with a decent majority should:
1) Repeal (scrap) the Fixed Term Parliament Act.
2) Rename the Supreme Court as the High Court of the United Kingdom.
3) Define the term "Parlayment" as mentioned in the 1689 Bill of Rights as being referring to the three great institutions of State and the interplay between them: specifically the House of Commons, the House of Lords, and the Crown where Her Majesty is acting as Advised by her Ministers and Prime Minister.
4) General Order 24 and all other Parliamentary standing orders to be purged of all partisan modifications made by one John Bercow in 2019.
5) All Parliamentary Standing Orders are henceforward to be accorded the status of Primary Legislation and may only be changed in future by application of full parliamentary due process.

There, that should do it.
