As I closed my file with her, I asked if she would do it pro-bono, but she was more concerned with the finances of a new office and her answer was no. At this time of my life I had small children under school age, and to work during this time of my life, when my husband was always gone driving semi, would have taken my whole paycheck to pay for day care. No one is taking anyone's money to pay for it, you give on your own free will, and I am truly appreciative of those who gave and still give to those who are in need of these services. The free clinic is run by donations and volunteers. There is not adequate healthcare options for people with low income or with no insurance. I am pleased to see that the Iowa City Free Clinic has a permanent home, because I used to have to use their services myself. Now that I have my own insurance, I don't need to use their services, but I know that there are plenty of people that do.
