Very entertaining and interesting article, Marman. I loved reading it.

I like the concept of that novel, Decipher. We create a myth around something so hopefully humanity can help future generations to avoid bringing harm onto themselves. This is great to at least give them something to increase the odds of them surviving.

What happens though when the myth's story tellers believe in the myth so much, that the myth itself is interpreted literally that anyone deviating from it would be branded as a heretic or a witch and should be killed immediately before his or her ideas pollute the rest of the population? When this happens, the religions they built around these myths will actually slow down the scientific thinking of this hypothetical civilisation, don't you think?
