KATU - Portland, OR : Boat with Japanese writing washes up at Cape Disappointment | Local & Regional | KATU.com - Portland

Perhaps it's time to get a Japanese consulate closer to the Oregon coast? Since it appears this will be happening frequently now, it only makes sense and would save time with the decision (even though most of us can pretty much figure it out from the obvious clues presented).

I really wish people would investigate further before opening their mouths and slamming others. My child CANNOT (please note the difference between cannot and will not) be vaccinated with the MMR vaccination due to an anaphylactic (that means life-threatening, possibly death) egg allergy. The MMR vaccination is made in a base which contains raw egg. To say that my child is endangering others is absurd. He's more IN danger because of this! And to propose that I (and many others in the same situation) am uneducated is utterly ridiculous. I probably know more about vaccinations than most, specifically due to this reason. So please don't go assuming...you know what they say about that!

I think the bottom line is the definition between legal and illegal. There are too many twisted thoughts, combining the two. Once that separation is made, cuts can and should be made. In my own opinion, if I have to show legal proof of citizenship for my child to play LITTLE LEAGUE, why should it not be a priority to enforce at MUCH higher levels? Seems a little convoluted to me.

I'm so very glad to hear that she's improving. I'm trying so hard to keep any and all political thoughts away from this because this act boils down to one thing: hatred. It crosses all lines, no matter what your race, political preference, gender, etc. And it's incredibly sad. On a wishful note, may this be the last time something so horrific happens, and on a larger, hopefully not impossible, scale, may our country, knowing that its seams are ripped, learn how to sew them back together peaceably.

Hey we're from Wyoming too!! Back there, from September until May, we don't watch TV (it's all from Salt Lake or Denver anyway), we watch the skies and listen to the old timers. If you can't shovel out from the unexpected, you either saddle up or walk to the store with a sled behind you. Ahhh, the good old days :)

I'm sorry for her, but you know who my heart really aches for? The families of William Hakim and Tom Tennant. They've been and are still going through the devastation of losing their beloved family member. They didn't have the chance to plead to anyone to save their family members and let them live. And I REALLY hope the family is not using this little girl as their biggest hope to spare these men of their punishment.

As far as I last heard, this is a free country, and they have every right in this world to be on TV giving interviews. Just as Terri has a right to do so, but has chosen not to. That choice is what is making her appear as though she has something to hide. And don't blame it on her attorney. I have never heard an attorney say "don't say a single word". If anything, they draw up a carefully planned speech to present a perceived innocence. Even that, at this point, would be better than the silence. LE dirty work or not, Kaine and Desiree have every right to speak their pain, they've certainly more than earned it.

KATU - Portland, OR : Guns now officially allowed in Wash. parks | Vancouver News

For the record, I do not carry a gun, not because I disagree with it, but because I was not raised to appreciate, respect or understand them. Do I fear them? In the wrong hands, yes. And yes, I am a Democrat, but one who believes that the Constitution was written with the right motives in mind. With that said, I also realize it would be ignornant to believe that when I take my children to a park to play, that a monster could not be lurking behind the next tree. A monster who is NOT carrying legally. And hopefully, sitting somewhere nearby should that monster decide to strike out at someone who enraged him, endangering many other innocent people, would be a saint who IS carrying legally. In the right hands, that person could save lives. In the right hands, there could be balance.

Vancouver District has the same guidelines. The kids aren't locked in, however. The doors are locked so no outside entrance is permitted, but all doors have panic bars on the inside for easy exit. As far as the kids feeling they are in danger, many do already due to the stranger danger we're having to teach at such an early age. It's a sad thought, but necessary in today's society. I truly, truly hope that Kyron is found, and soon.

"...late Tuesday night a banner appeared on the bridge that said in English: "U.S. Border Patrol we worry about the violence in Mex and murders and now you. Viva Mexico!" WHY would you put Viva Mexico on a sign if it's the country you're constantly trying to get AWAY from??!! This makes no sense. Shouldn't it read: "Viva USA!"? After all, you want our stuff, you gotta favor us, and do it legally. Interesting concept.

KATU - Portland, OR : Thousands of dollars due Oregon families through Earned Income Credit | KATU.com - Breaking News, Sp

I'm tired of people lumping others into one stereotypical "made wrong choices" category. My husband has a college degree, works 60+ hours a week helping kids, but because he's in social service, doesn't get the whoppingly large salary that an executive does. However, his paycheck sees an enormous chunk taken out for taxes. I'm also college educated, but we have a terminally ill child who I stay home to take care of now. Our choice? I think not. We receive no assistance, have no vices and live very frugally. "Earned" income credit is VERY MUCH earned in this U.S. born & raised household. So please, before assuming the worst of everyone, remember that there are some who actually do qualify rightfully.

Hmmm. And Oregonians don't have that same window of opportunity by coming up here to shop TAX FREE? It gets old standing in line waiting for y'all to pull out your driver's licenses to prove you can tank our state's economy, since it's already been achieved down there.
