Hello Senator Daschle thank you for the opportunity to tell my story. My father is 89 years old, he and my mother live with me. Middle of this year Dad fell and fractured his right hip and shoulder. Went to the hospital, had surgery and then discharged to a rehab center so he could walk again. Did my research by reading the books and literature his insurance provider sent him, also called AARP/ Medicare Complete, Secure Horizons, can't tell you how many names this outfit has. Called phone line to see if I understood his benefits correctly. I thought I had it under control. What I did not know or was told of was that a nurse representing these guys was coming to evaluate Dad. I think it was one or two days after Dad arrived at the rehab center this nurse shows up, she looks at Dad and says that he is not going to make progress, as per their guidelines,so they will not pay for his stay at the center. Well, I thought my world had collapsed under my feet. This woman expected this 89 year old man that just had surgery, and was told by his Surgeon not to put any weight on the hip for 6 weeks, to stand up and start walking. I think this is criminal. !
