I love those pictures. Watching kids be kids at the beach are some of my own favorite memories of watching my daughters grow up. all children do the same things in the face of surf and sand! Thanks for sharing! My recent post Sundays in a Nearby Town (Near my City)

The Mother's Handbook.net : Food Wars, Part 5,349

It would be so easy for us to spend our entire lives planning, cooking, serving, eating, and cleaning up when it comes to feeding the family. I have a carnivore who only likes frozen peas and doesn't like tomato sauce and a vegetarian who cried when I used to serve lamb, and eats whole tomatoes the way you eat an apple. It feel as if I've given blood already this morning just thinking about what I might possibly serve tonight. I try not to appease and cater, but I know I do in wimpish attempt to avoid teen "tude."

I can't stop thinking how great it would be if I could plug up my daughters every now and then - just when they were REALLY getting on my nerves :)

I love this post and the above comment about women flocking to nunneries. I would have been right there with them - as my baby making years were incredibly challenging health wise. And as far a a chastity belt?I've got two daughters I'd like to sign up :)

The Mother's Handbook.net : And You Wonder Why I'm Hypertensive

I've been putting up with this policy for years.Every bureaucrat from hell thinks their job is to see how they can trip a student up, instead of dealing with real truancy issues. It also seems pretty irresponsible to be expecting sick students to come to school just because they don't have a doctor's note. It always makes me especially angry and sad for the students who have parents who don't care, or can't afford to run to the doctor every time little Johnny has flu symptoms.

I am incredibly impressed and inspired. I bought the wii active and have been doing it for a month - No huge differences yet and I doubt my cartoon trainer is anything like Tony, but I've been working hard, and shuffle around like a cowboy now. Love the disclaimers - I hate that being watched feeling :)

What does it mean that I did fall over constantly while pregnant? My theory is my feet were too small to hold me up :)

Interesting post!. I've always had a problem with most of these kind of studies because of causation versus correlation problem - that and I live with a scientist who constantly quips that 95% of statistics aren't inaccurate.

In around the 7th grade, almost everyone has their head in the sand around here. It's all "not my little girl with Jesus in her heart" yet, "boys will be boys." And what's with this new thing happening where the girls want to be pregnant? My daughter says they post pictures on facebook, showing off their bellies.

The Mother's Handbook.net : The ABCs of Homeschooling, or Why I Have an Ulcer

I so hear you! As you may know, I send my 8th grader to a charter virtual school. She's pretty motivated - thank goodness, because I don't think me being her teacher would be a good idea for oh so many reasons. She's actually just thrilled to be away from the day to day bs of jumping through stupid hoops to not even learn anything. Both public and private education are in a sorry state overall when it comes to teaching gifted children in our country. Something like a whopping .07% of the budget goes to it. And in our school district the mentality is well lets just accelerate them, which is a cheap solution because it doesn't address different learning styles and differences. The mindset of "no child left behind" and state standards runs totally counter to helping individual children come close to reaching their potential. I'm just glad there was some option for Sparkle. And socialization? It's not like she doesn't get out and have friends. I think in the middle school years, it's way overrated. - the kids are mean as all.
