Antiwar.com Original Articles : Churchill Spurred the Decline of the West

Kudos to Patrick Buchanan for de-bunking most of the Churchill mythology, the subject of which was a sacred cow until now in both the US & Great Britain (the Irish, understandably, probably have a different view of the man)...Noticeably (& strangely) absent from his analysis, however, was the huge debacle at Dunkirk (Dunkerque in France) in 1940, one of the biggest military blunders in history, caused by Churchill's poor strategy, judgement & planning & for which he never really had to pay any lasting price, political or otherwise...Lesser mortals would have been tried & sentenced for such ineptness, but Churchill, again, could do no wrong. Thousands of British & Allied soldiers sure paid the price for that one, though! A recent British (pleasant surprise!) TV documentary series on World War II was broadcast on PBS a few months ago & what an eye opener that was! I forget the name of the narrator/investigator, but I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone interested in this period of history. I think it was produced by the BBC?
