It is an absolute lie that $2 bills are scarce and rarely in circulation. Sure they want to conserve energy but I have repeatedly complained about all the parking lot lights that burn nightly at veterans' stadium when there is not a single car in the lot. They know its happening but nothing is done. There are so many other ways to conserve. Turn off every other street light on 8th ave. bridge for example. You can read a newspaper there at night currently--is that degree of illumination necessary? I believe the real culprit is Alliant Energy who sells all these lights and electricity to keep their stockholders happy. There are literally 100's of similar situations in Cedar Rapids where energy use could be cut, with no negative consequences. Come on council, just take some action and forget about all these crazy resolutions that aren't followed by action.
