The Liberal Media obviously can't do their job. I suggest next time we all bring our own cameras and youtube it like crazy.
I am so frustrated that you can't disagree with Pres. Obama or what he does without being labeled a racist, an extremist or (according to the US Dept. of Homeland Security) a potential terrorist!! And what about how most of the media totally distorted and down-played the tea parties? Nancy Pelosi said about the tea parties "this initiative is funded by the high-end. We call it Astroturf, it's not really a grass-roots movement. It's astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in america to focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle-class." When will they take We the middle-class, taxpaying, non-racist, patriot People seriously?!
Don't give up, that's exactly what they want us to do. We need to pull together because when we do, our voices will be heard. They can't ignore us forever.
Knowledge is Power. Our country is suffering because "We the People" don't know the Constitution and aren't being taught it in our schools. Our elected officials have been passing bills to appease a sedentary country that wants their government to do all the thinking just as long as they remain pacified.
Until more recently in my life, I took the Constitution for granted. I assumed it would stand forever and that the people we put in places of power would never do anything contrary to the bounds our forefathers set. Since I have been more actively learning about our Constitution and our government I feel like I've been a dormant sleeper and I'm just now waking up to a Republic being threatened!
There are so many Americans who are still oblivious to their rights and that they are now slipping away. We need to promote Constitutional awareness in our families, in our neighborhoods, in our schools, in our public libraries, etc. I don't think our country would be in this situation if we as Americans knew just what we have and what we are about to lose.
Why are there so many anti-Obama streams going on? It's like saying he's the one that started all our problems. I just wish people would wake up and realize our problem is bigger than President Obama. The Constitution itself is being misinterpreted and abused. Our children are not even learning about it in school!
I think the problem is that most people posting are conservative and the few liberals who venture here like to stir things up. I don't think it would be that way if we focused more upon the principles and values we share rather than trying to prove what we know or feel to be "right". United we stand, divided we fall.
I can't agree with jo72 more about the balance of power. When in history did the balance of power shift from our states?
It is true we should never follow anyone blindly, and I as a conservative am quite disappointed by Obama's "agenda". However, I think it's important to remember it's not just President Obama passing bills and such. If we are really going to send a message to the government, we need to show that we are united in principles and upset about our rights being trampled on instead of focusing our animosity toward any one person. He may be one big problem, but the bigger problem is our constitution has and is being abused.
I think it's a great petition, but I think our focus is misguided. We are getting so focused on how the government is overspending instead of concentrating on the main problem. It's the problem that got us into this mess and the reason this site was created. The Constitution of our country is being trampled on! Our government needs to do a lot more shaping up than just "tightening their belt". So while I do agree with the petition, I would include the other principles and values that are lacking in our system and start steering toward winning the war and not the battle.
