Well said Martin. I hope Frost holds the line as you do. The lack of leaks either from the EU side or ours suggest at least that realistic negotiations are happening at last.

A very profound post. John Parkes at his best!

I don't think anyone would want to see the NHS overwhelmed but can you tell me exactly how we are faring now against where we were last year or the year before? The NHS is under severe pressure every winter but you seem quite content to inflict huge damage on our economy and on society without knowing some of the essential facts.

I do not see in his modelling he predicts 50,000 deaths.

These models have not been accurate to date. On an an annual basis 2020 has been unexceptional for death rates.

Tim Spector who has the largest number of people to base his research on suggests infections are falling.

Which numbers show that this will happen in December? Can you tell me exactly how we are faring now against where we were last year or the year before? This is exactly Redwood's point.

I did read the quote. I don't agree with it at all. If you are under 70 and in decent health then I believe it would be better for us as individuals and society as a whole to take our chances with this illness and not wreck our society as is happening. If you are over 70 and/or in poor health then the state, friends and family should do all in their power to help you shield should you want them to do this. Some people will unlucky but until we can abolish death or suffering I think that is very much the lesser of two evils.
PS you actually have no idea if hospitals will be overwhelmed etc. Are hospitals in worse shape now than they were in 2019 or 2018. We just don't know.
