Good question! I just used a strip of bias folded in half, and sewed the raw edges together (raw edge of the bias tape and the raw edge of the cover). I explain a bit more in this post <a href="http://:http://www.makeithandmade.com/2013/06/No-Iron-Bias-Binding.html

yes-- I need to update the pattern to state that you need to use circular needles! There are lots of tutorials on line that show how to cast on for circular needles.

Sarah-- I wash all my laundry (handmade or not) pretty hard. Always on warm/hot, and with whatever detergent is laying around. Luckily, the quilt is pretty tiny (baby sized) so re doing it wont be that difficult or costly.
