Maybe the problem is utilitites are going up as well as gas, food, health insurance, medical bills, the cost of upkeep on a home, college, public education, anyone can add to the list. We need flood protection, but how do we pay for it. I don't believe the answer is giving the wealthy another tax break, or giving more profits to big business to line their pockets with. General mills just made it cheaper to pump out their cereal at the C.R. plant. Prices didn't go down anbd employees did not get a raise, I bet the stock holders did. Every big corporation is doing this, either making it cheaper or moving to do it cheaper yet we get no relief from them. As a matter of fact it all becomes more expensive. Why don't people demand more money from their employer instead of demanding that people take pay cuts. The idea is not to lower the standered of living for everyone but to bring it up.
