I read a post on tumblr once written by a Jewish person and how they really liked their faith because of the whole tradition of arguing with God. And the difference between surrendering to God and developing one's relationship with God

It clearly struck a note because this is what it reminded me of.

Yay for new book! And I had a super cranky dream the other night. It was a first person choose your own adventure style crossover between the SYWTBAW universe/Rivers of London universe which can kind of work if you squint but all I. An remember on waking was thematic it was amazing

The first time I read this book, I don't remember havzing a problem with the bridge but now the thought of it just makes me want to vomit with fear. I think it's a learnt fear of heights from my dad as me and my sister were little shits about playing close to edges and my dad being really scared. Now issues with tall buildings, bridges, glass lifts on the outside of buildings :(

I'm guessing the astronomy one. I know about because a friend is in the field and hearing some the shit is awful.

There's a small but thriving fandom on tumblr! And with the comics, it's kind of awesome

I don't think it's deliberate that she's missed the lack of repairs. I think that it's a combination of her missing it and not having the experience to read between the lines (which will come with time. I get the impression that she's not any better or worse than other nobles at her age and certainly Tris and perhaps Daja has more experience reading accounts duE to their backgrounds), her resentment at Narmorn (her last experience there and her not wanting to go to stay with them after her parents died seem to make that clear) and it's far away and not having to take much of an interest. First her magic took precedent and then looking after Duke Vedris. None of these make her a bad person but at a different time or place she could have picked it up earlier

I always read it that she was sent the final accounts and it was more what wasn't written that the problem. The fines were there but unless you're super on top of things AND are familiar with the grounds, you would know what level of repairs were normal. If the last time you saw the grounds were when you were 8, I cut Sandry a little bit of slack. Tris would probably pick up on it maybe Daja but they're more likely to know the costs of things and more conscious of market fluxes

It's also the massive power differential. If you live at her Court, it's very difficult to say no to her advances because she has the power to make your life very difficult
