That way, if Pelf can go Sunday, Figgy is your long man. If he can't, Figgy starts and then becomes the long man after Pelf comes back. This team needs a long reliever more than a situational righthander, especially with the starters not going much more than five innings. Why they didn't carry a long reliever is beyond me, you don't want to burn out the quality relievers early in the season. If the Mets had a team of Johans, then you could go without a long man, but we know that's not the case....
