MetsBlog.com : Pepsi Refresh Pre-Game: Mets vs Brewers - Game Three

Meanwhile, the Marlins rally against the crappy Nats' pen (AGAIN) and are about to go 11-1. Say what you want about the Fish, but they've got some heart and some good young pitchers to go with it.

I think the team needs a long reliever badly, bring Figueroa up to start for Pelfrey and then assume this role. With the starters going so few innings, the bullpen will be burned out by June......

MetsBlog.com : Note: Pelfrey wants to Start, Announcement Today

This is what I would do if I was the Mets...Bring Figgy up and send O'Day back to the Angels (maybe they don't want him back and then you can just send him to the minors). That way, if Pelf can go Sunday, Figgy is your long man. If he can't, Figgy starts and then becomes the long man after Pelf comes back. This team needs a long reliever more than a situational righthander, especially with the starters not going much more than five innings. Why they didn't carry a long reliever is beyond me, you don't want to burn out the quality relievers early in the season. If the Mets had a team of Johans, then you could go without a long man, but we know that's not the case....
