Having read the whole speech, I don't think Jindal is advocating abandoning Washington. What it appears he's advocating is a message favoring a "download" of power out of DC and to the states - whether by use of block grants, elimination of programs, cutting bureaucracies and so forth. It's a familiar small-government message, but what it focuses on is making government more local and accountable and eliminating the impact of what everybody knows is a corrupt system in DC. Jindal doesn't mention either, but if you're familiar with the theory put forth by James Piereson at AEI about how we're on the verge of a fundamental shift in the model of American government or by some of the things Bill Whittle has been saying at PJTV about how we have an industrial-age government for an information-age society and that's unsustainable you can see the influences in that thinking on this speech.

She's undoubtedly "smatter" than the rest. She knows who her voters are, and she's playing to them in as cynical and condescending fashion as she can. It will likely work, too.

The idea that she's "moderate" is as laughable as can be, though. Typical national Democrat. Nothing moderate about this candidate.

I'm more than happy to have her in the runoff. Over/under of 38 percent on Nov. 2.

Frankly, the fact that Downer has made this an issue shows what a vapid, content-free campaign he's running. And that's why he's trailing so badly in the polls. He should have gotten out of the race after his disastrous performance in the primary.

The latest poll on O'Donnell and Coons isn't good. It appears she's 15 points away.

She's going to need to make some wise use of that $1.5 million she's raised in the past week to get back in that race. And the way to win is to expose Coons for the low-rent lefty hack he is. She and the third-party groups helping her need to napalm him.

But even without the Delaware seat, the direction is positive in California, West Virginia, New York and Connecticut. I don't think Delaware is necessary.

I have yet to see a Landry supporter posting under multiple aliases from the same IP address. Can't say the same for the other side. In fact, the Landry supporters here usually register for IntenseDebate accounts or WordPress screen-names as we encourage all commenters to do.

And because they do, their posts are less likely to be flagged for deletion or their IP's banned.
