Big Peace : WikiLeaks has Done the World a Service

This is the first article about this mess that has it right, Kudos to you. Our Government has constructed, with our tax dollars, a worldwide system of listening posts capable of collecting information on anyone or anything they deem a threat. The fact that most people are siding with the Government over Assange shows how well our masters have done their job of creating a climate of fear. We have become a nation of fear mongers who see a terrorist behind every Bush (pun intended). WikiLeaks is the worlds biggest Freedom of Information Act release. As they say, sunlight is s great disinfectant. Let the sun shine and the revelations keep on coming. Innocent people have nothing to hide.

Big Peace : The New Congress Should Include Military Spending in Deficit Reduction

Amen to that. Across the board spending cuts. Nothing is sacred. We need to cut with the sword not a scalpel. And I say this as a Military Member. There is a ton of waste in Military spending. Technology projects especially spend money hand over fist with little or no oversight. I work in this area so don't tell me otherwise. There need to be spending limits. It forces people to be innovative and use things already in existence instead of reinventing the wheel endlessly. But we really need to cut entitlement spending. Social Security Reform should be a major effort by the Republicans. The long term outlook on entitlements (Social Security, Medicare, Obamacare) is much more worrisome to me than Defense. There is plenty of fat to trim in the Federal Budget, but long-term, entitlement spending is the big killer and will eat us alive if we don't get it under control.

Breitbart.com : Saudi prince strangled servant at London hotel: court

Had he done this in Saudi Arabia, the Royal Family would have covered it up. No way they would ever admit to having a Homosexual in the family. Oh, he might have suffered an unfortunate "accident" a short time later. Now that this is in the press they will have to cut him loose. If they try to bargain for his acquittal it will be seen as condoning his behavior, and the Mullahs would go insane. Thankfully, this guy is locked up and they have a pretty solid case against him. I bet it won't go well for him in the British Penal system.

This article is about Iran's unspeakable hatred of the Jewish people. 3. How much money have we given to Iraq and Afghanistan? And what have THEY done with it?

Breitbart.com : Oil\'s fingers reach into Louisiana\'s inland waters

Why is the Obama administration getting a pass from the media on their inept response to the spill? Remember during Katrina we saw all those buses sitting there in the floodwaters and everyone asked why weren't they used to evacuate people? Where are all the pictures of the 100's of skimmers that are just sitting idle in the US. Not to mention all of the equipment which was offered from other nations. I think they are deliberately letting this spill get as bad as it can so that they can build up political support for Cap and Trade. Its either that or they are totally incompetent. I'm not sure which is worse.

Big Hollywood : 'Vampire Diaries' Star 'Shaken' By Hollywood's Lack of Support While Visiting Gulf

Dude, my family lived in New Orleans and they do not fit your racist stereotype. Many of them were offended by the Media's misrepresentation of those harmed by the storm. Of course, the poor are always the hardest hit in a disaster, but many other people lost EVERYTHING they owned, and many lost their lives. I see your point to a degree, that the media obsesses on the most dramatic storyline, often to the point of distorting reality. But that is not news.

There's no Real sympathy from the Left for Gulf State residents. Here's why: 1. The Left, and especially Hollywood, views the South as a bunch of ignorant, backward, rednecks. You'll see this stereotype in their movies and TV shows, and it is often espoused by talk show hosts and other pundits. 2. The Left believes the Gulf residents brought this on themselves by allowing the Oil Rigs to be built in the first place. NEVERMIND that they all use plastics and lots of other products made from Oil that comes out of the Gulf, as well as Gasoline that is mostly refined in Louisiana and Texas. All they can muster are Crocodile tears to conceal their real feelings of schadenfreuede laced "told ya so". Nevermind also the fact that they have blocked drilling on land (think: ANWR) and in shallower waters. The Left never feels guilty because they are SO SURE of the moral rightness of their positions. Their attitude is "If you want an Omelet, you have to break a few Eggs." In this case, the Omelet is the wonderful Green Energy future promised by Obama, and the Eggs are all of us little people who depend on Oil to get to work and perform countless other daily tasks. I'm no shill for the OIl companies, I want us to be off of Oil as much as anyone but THE TRUTH is that Oil will be with us for a long, long time. We should do everything we can to conserve its use (it is a precious resource), and we must continue to develop alternative energy source. But there is currently no suitable replacement for Oil. Nothing can yet match its energy density/price ratio. This is well known to any serious student of the energy debate. Solar, Wind, Biomass, none of these come even close. Except for Nuclear, but don't get me start on the Left's obstruction of that. I applaud Mr. Somerhalder for visiting the Gulf and speaking out. I wish him well in his efforts and will donate to a Telethon if he organizes one. I was born and raised in New Orleans and feel for the folks there who have been hit with the double whammy of Katrina and now this mess. Lets hope it ends soon.

The Climate doesn't care what your "Model" thinks, it will go on warming and cooling as it pleases whether you can find a convenient explanation for it or not. Anyone with a basic understanding of Computer Science knows that the Climate can not be modeled with any certainty, there are just way too many unknowns (Read: "What Computers Really Can't Do" by Oxford Press for a good explanation). If their models are really such an accurate depiction of reality why have they failed to predict the current cooling trend. Oh, yeah, they forgot to add in the La Nina. Hmm, I wonder what other effects they've forgotten about.

Big Hollywood : The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion?

There is an old fashioned word for this, its called Propaganda. Yes, I know it is a loaded term and noticed that you took great care not to use it but let's call it what it is. There is a reason that this was a Conference Call and not on a document anywhere. The appearance of impropriety is certainly there, but without a paper trail it is hard to make a case that there is anything nefarious going on. They are merely "suggesting" themes, the artists still have a choice whether they choose to produce art concerning these themes. And how can you prove they did not choose to do these on their own. It would be interesting to hire a bunch of artists to do Anti Obama Art ala the Joker Poster and have them apply for grants from the NEA. Then when they all get rejected, file a lawsuit against the NEA alleging bias.

Breitbart.com : Afghan mission falls short of expectations: Lawmakers

Afghanistan is like the US during the 1800's. You have some large population centers like Kabul and Jalalabad which are thriving metropolises by Third World Standards, but the rest of the place is "Indian Country". The Talaband are not any real threat to stability there, they are just an armed band of thugs. Afghanistan needs a very long time and huge amounts of money to develop into a nation. Unlike Iraq which had an infrastructure, Afghanistan is starting pretty much from scratch. Anyone who hasn't been there can't really grasp how big of a challenge this is. One main problem is that Afghanistan doesn't really have any proven natural resources besides Poppy. If someone were to find Oil there or Gold, then there would be some incentive for investment and stabilization. Right not they are a charity case. One final point: Where are all of their Muslim brothers in this effort? The rich Oil Sheiks in Dubai and Bahrain, how come they aren't spending massive amounts of money to help this country get on its feet? Sure, they'll send Billions to the hinterlands of Pakistan to build Madrassas, but nothing for their poor Afghan cousins. Because many in the Muslim world secretly want the Taliban back in power. No matter how corrupt and backward, they would rather Afghanistan be a "pure" Muslim country under Sharia law. As long as they don't have to live there that is.

Breitbart.com : White House wants more power to set Medicare rates

Yeah, good idea. Doctors are already loathe to accept new Medicare patients because they are already getting shortchanged by the system. Doing this will only further restrict care for the elderly who depend on Medicare the most. But hey, the Government gets to spend less of your money on other people, and that's what Socialism is all about right?

WAVY.com : Vick changes job to work with kids

Forgiveness, empathy, redemption....these are fundamental American values. People who are incapable of forgiveness are fundamentally damaged. As someone once said, the problem with an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is that everyone ends up blind and toothless. Let Michael Vick put his life back together. What he did was wrong, no doubt, but his punishment has been served. I for one can't wait to see him back in the NFL. I hope that he does some PSA's or other work to help combat animal cruelty but that is his choice. As it stands, he has paid his debt to society. Many people who have done much worse get lighter sentences. I think justice has been done in his case.

The Honor of Women. What a laugh that is! You honor them so much that you force them to cover themselves from head to toe? Or some would say they are not forced, it is just feminine modesty. This is often said by women who are so oppressed they don't even know they are oppressed. A fish doesn't know its wet. I think France is wise to take this measure. If immigrants want to come there they need to assimilate. Immigration without assimilation is cultural suicide. Adapt or die.
