So apple is really trying to close 3GS. Maybe there should start some Open Source Firmware for iPhone. The same IU, the same features, but open. Is it possible to bump all necessary drivers and adapt them to linux or freeBSD kernel as open source?

There are some bad things around this. If you turn notification on, your iphone will discharge battery in a few hours. I have just uninstalled all app with push notification to stop overheating my iphone (turning notification off won't solve anything).

but on iPhone without redsn0w and ultrasn0w (without unlock and jailbreak) push notification works fine :( So it is not an apple bug (maybe apple feature for "hackers")
