Daily Camera.com: : Boulder may extend e-bike program - Boulder Daily Camera

Cars are not limited in their top speed. Drivers are expected to obey the speed limit, not buy a car that cannot physically move faster than the speed limit. Non-motorized cyclists can exceed the speed limit.

Daily Camera.com: : CU-Boulder hosting Thursday viewing of partial solar eclipse - Boulder Daily Camera

Who wrote the caption for the photo? "full" is not a recognized eclipse type. Total, partial, annular. The eclipse described in the photo was an annular. If by "full", you mean the opposite of "partial", there is no opposite. I sure hope you didn't mean a total eclipse, which is very rare for Boulder.

Daily Camera.com: : CU working on system-wide, $251K marketing initiative - Boulder Daily Camera

Didn't your mother every ask you about jumping off a bridge...? CU spends hundreds of millions on a stadium and it's worried about being competitive? I tried senior auditing this semester and the classes were hot and crowded, with paying students standing in the back of the room (needless to say, I didn't stay). Try spending a little more on a positive student experience. It'll do wonders for your competitiveness. You don't need to spend a quarter-million to consultants, just ask your students.

Daily Camera.com: : Cyclists say near-stops frequently fined in Hygiene - Boulder Daily Camera

I disagree with this law. Not long ago, Colorado had legislation to allow cyclists to coast slowly through stop signed intersections. Other places allow it, for example in Idaho. It makes sense, for cyclists to, when safe, slowly coast through such an intersection in order to preserve momentum.

Daily Camera.com: : A spring nature walk: North Table Mountain, Golden - Boulder Daily Camera

I went on the hike yesterday. Great weather for it. It was very nice. One thing that was remarkable was a human factor. Everyone along the trail was so friendly! Not only did people say "hi", but many also said "how are you" or similar. It was so noticeable that it caused me to think about what could be so different there from hiking along a trail in the Boulder area? And, it was people of all ages.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder County Commissioners, fracking foes clash over home rule charter - Boulder Daily Camera

And Federal law trumps State law, unless we're talking about recreational marijuana. Then it's more complicated. It's always more complicated. There is no "period". In most cases a useful strategy is to make it more difficult for the other side to achieve their goal. Home Rule will do that. It creates another hurdle for the State to overcome.

Daily Camera.com: : Jones: Mobility on, around U.S. 36 hinges on potential transportation sales tax - Boulder Daily Came

I learned from a public meeting with Plenary that there would be no additional lanes to relieve automobile congestion (I don't count the HOV lanes, because they are toll roads). Also, the only BRT would be for the one bus route that goes from Boulder to downtown Denver. Other buses would be considered local, need to stop along the way, and therefore would not migrate in and out of the HOV lanes, but would stay in the slower, more congested, general lanes, and on the shoulder lanes if possible and necessary. Not only is this not light rail, but it is a poor improvement to bus service, unless you are a commuter from Boulder to Denver during rush hour. Light rail does not provide only a connection between two points.

An wonderful American hero and a wonderful ceremony. Aside to Camera: this story gets a minor headline compared to the Buffs LOSING a game? Amazing. The guy is a Boulder legend, an American hero and a historic person, and he gets something like a state funeral in little old Boulder with at least three Senators, our Representative, the director of NASA, guys who have actually walked on the Moon. And it gets a minor headline below the Buffs lead with photo. That's the website tonight. I hope the Sunday paper tomorrow as a better layout.

Daily Camera.com: : A run through devastated Fourmile Canyon: Finding home, finding peace - Boulder Daily Camera

Fourmile Creek goes through the drainage that goes to Boulder Creek. It doesn't have a canyon name. Fourmile Canyon Dr. goes beside Fourmile Creek. Fourmile Creek and Fourmile Canyon Dr. are NOT in Fourmile Canyon! Fourmile Canyon is further north, along Wagonwheel Gap Rd. It leads up to Sunshine (the town, not the canyon!) and leads down into Wagonwheel Gap and ends, I guess, at the mouth of the canyon that Lee Hill goes up.

I know it's confusing, but that area isn't called Fourmile Canyon. Fourmile Canyon is further north, along Wagonwheel Gap Rd. Fourmile Creek doesn't go through Fourmile Canyon (the creek going through Fourmile Canyon is Fourmile Canyon Creek). To make it more confusing, the round along Fourmile Creek is Fourmile Canyon Dr., but it's not in Fourmile Canyon.

Daily Camera.com: : Erie-based Magpul launches \'Boulder Airlift\' to sell gun magazines to Colo. customers - Boulder Da

As much as I'm a socialist and dislike advertising, I have to admit that it is a very creative campaign. Of course, it is sheer opportunism, to make a buck off the climate of fear. I heard an argument against high capacity magazines, that you can fire around one shot per second. But, what difference does the magazine make? Doesn't it take just a few seconds to load another magazine? Seems like the size of the magazine is pretty irrelevant. Sometime, I'd like to get together with a few gun rights supporters for an intelligent conversation. I'd like to understand where this is coming from. Is the basic idea that one reserves the right to engage in war with soldiers, in the scenario that the government launches an attack on the people using, say, the National Guard, and then a militia will form to fight then, and then they will start shooting each other as fast as they can? You don't advocate violent revolution, right? That's illegal. But, you want to be able to fight back. Don't you need to fight back with as much fire power as the National Guard brings against you? So, doesn't the right to bear arms extend to grenades, rocket launchers, tanks, aircraft. During the Cold War, the nuclear policy was Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD), that the USA and USSR would not nuc' each other, therefore the stalemate of possessing the weapons precluded their use. Does the same thing apply to the tension between People and Government? That the People should have all the same weapon systems as the Government, to prevent either from revolting against the other? Wild times! Wild ideas.
