http://renaissancemaam.blogspot.com/ : A Feminist Housewife's Guide to Her Own Sanity

Love this post Jen. I should have held off on my hiatus for just a few weeks, because I WANT THIS POST! Haha. As you know, I can definitely relate. The tips that were most important to my sanity (although often the hardest to follow) were to keep a schedule and to keep practicing. I found that being a housewife was a dangerous place for me in terms of thinking waaaaaay too much about food. I started getting more body-focused than I've ever been, and being home all the time and reading a huge number of healthy living blogs just wasn't helping me. Anyway, I hope that you're taking this time to create and paint and draw...I'd love to see some more of your work. Who knows! Maybe someday I'll buy an original Jen for the living room! (No, I'm serious. Over the next few years, I want to start collecting original art.)

http://yeahgoodtimes.blogspot.com/ : \"All Kids Do That\" Part 9: Puberty

As a teacher, every year my number one goal was to teach my students to be kind to each other and seek out each other's positive qualities and to respect - no CELEBRATE - that everyone is different. And I failed with some of my students. Every. Single. Year. One year, I cried after school every day for a week because I couldn't get through to a few of my mean boys who thought it was funny to make a boy with asperger's repeat inappropriate things. I hovered over the boy, protecting him as best I could...but I couldn't help him make any friends. In the end, I was able to stop them with punishment, but I was unable to get them to internalize that what they were doing was WRONG. I wish there was a solution to this. I wish that the world were a kinder place. To think that ADULTS make fun of a boy...it hurts my heart. I'm glad that you've found a way to let your son seek out social interaction...and I hope that he doesn't figure out that the mic is muted for a very long time. Your love and concern for your son are apparent in every word of this post. The two of you are so lucky to have each other.

I know that a lot of bloggers can post 3 times one week, and then nothing for a couple of weeks, and then post again...but I'm kind of an all-or-nothing kind of girl. If I'm not going to post regularly, then I probably won't post at all. Maybe I'll get over that eventually! And you can still give me an award. Ha!
