http://trinidadexpress.com/ : Cheaper drugs for T&T | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

The public should have the choice of purchasing the proper drugs, or the bogus drugs that will possibly be imported by the Government. As long as the real drugs do not disappear from our shelves in exchange for bogus drugs that pharmaceutical suppliers in Trinidad think they can make a profit from. There is a reason that the wealthy in Trinidad seek very little of their healthcare from within the country. It seems that soon we will all need to go abroad for our drugs to ensure that they are reliable and proper. Does the good Minister know if Trinidad has the proper laws and services in place to investigate and prosecute importers of counterfeit drugs? Was there not an ex prime minister who supposedly had a stroke as a result of poor quality, bogus CDAP drugs?

And now this magnificent creature is dead. What is there to celebrate? That a man with a boat, a gas powered engine, and high tech fishing gear plucked a large and beautiful fish from the ocean? How big could it have gotten had it not been killed?

Why are persons from other islands being allowed to come to Trinidad and sell their goods to the exclusion of Trinidadians? Can Trinidadians go to Guyana, St. Vincent, Antigua etc. and setup shop in their markets to sell Trinidad produce?

If we had adhered to the teachings for centuries we would have a lifespan of 25 years and still be living the life of those in the 12th and 13th century. If we didn't question "morality" and the hallowed teachings of particular faiths we would still think the Earth was the center of the universe. Stop trying to use Religion to explain your own prejudices. They are YOUR prejudices and fears, not God's. If you are a true follower of your faith, then please stop using cell phones, television and all computers. You need to live a life of austerity with the ox and the cart and shun all modern advancements including medicine. Modern advancements were created from those that turned away from your Faith and questioned it. Go back to the land and live like the Amish, otherwise you are not being true to the good book.

http://trinidadexpress.com/ : Dog owner guilty: fined $200 | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

You make no sense. Neither of the dogs in this case were Pit Bulls. That's why dog owners are against Breed Specific legislation. They are for legislation that ensures owners secure their property, muzzle their dogs in public where necessary, and are held responsible for the actions of their dogs. Whatever their breed of dog. I wonder if you ever read anyone's points beside your own?

She would have gotten away scott free with the new Dangerous Dogs Act anyway. That's the real tragedy. Her dogs aren't on the list of Dangerous Dogs. Time to add about 60 new breeds to the list! And then another 10 when people start bringing in other dogs. Wonder when Trinidad public would realise how insipid breed specific legislation is.

http://trinidadexpress.com/ : Road deaths out of control | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

Are they also going to include in this plan installing proper barriers on the highways? Are they also going to ensure that the road surface is proper and fit for cars travelling at 80kph? Why do other countries where the average car is far more powerful than Trinidad's little 1.6 engines not have vehicles jumping medians and killing two and three car loads of people? Because they have proper barriers on their major highways. We don't. At 80kph if someone loses control and crosses the median, and hits another car also travelling at 80kph then the chance of fatalities is extremely high.

http://trinidadexpress.com/ : BREAKING NEWS - Acting Chief Justice critically injured | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News

Highway barriers save lives. Install the proper barriers and cars will not jump the median into the opposite lane. It is a simple fix that will automatically prevent these multi car deaths that we see constantly in Trinidad regardless of speed/distraction/drunk/sober/ alert status of the drivers. Next, have proper standards for our highways. Fix potholes when they appear. Ensure that the road surface is smooth and not corrugated and undulating. Ahh, but as usual it is speed. I'm surprised someone didn't mention that everyone was drunk. The tragedy is that no matter how many times one reads about cars jumping the median and killing those in oncoming vehicles, Trinidadians never seem to reach the correct conclusion.

Unfortunately, you cannot prove that deaths due to dog bites fell by 80% in those states that implemented Dangerous Dog acts. You also provide no explanation for why the UK which lead the charge for Dangerous Dog Acts is now moving to repeal their own act, after admitting that it did not work nor did it have the intended effect. Comment on those issues, if you will. There needs to be legislation governing the responsibility of owners for the actions of their pets, dogs especially.

What about parking? Will they FINALLY address parking? Are they creating a car park? Constant police patrols on side streets? How about banning cars on the avenue between certain times and implementing comprehensive shuttle and security services? I don't think Trinidadians can stress that word 'Security' too much either. Great idea, though, long overdue.

I thought this Government would have the sense to modify that act before proclaiming it. It is terribly flawed and will cause far more problems than it will solve. Look out for hundreds of Pitbulls to be roaming the streets as people get rid of them. Also, look out for a surge in Akitas, Cane Corsos, Dobermans and others. What the Government should have done is put forward a comprehensive plan regarding animals and pets on the whole. A plan that protected both the pets and animals as well as the people. But, that would have made far too much sense and have been much more effective. Hence our government either wouldn't consider it, or would dismiss such ideas. It is much better for them to get the short term boost in public relations by proclaiming a broken bill.

Please provide links to the research articles that back up your statements. They are rather outrageous and need support. The article is about energy drinks. Which energy drinks have been banned and are appearing on our local supermarket shelves? Lunch boxes are paper based, not styrofoam. I am not aware of any tests showing that caffeine does not keep you awake, and basically all energy drinks do is give you a shot of caffeine. I'm not going to continue debunking the rest of your note, I believe the point has been made.

The Minister is incorrect. The caffeine content in energy drinks is NOT 10 times what is in a cup of coffee. This now brings into question everything else the Ministry and the Minister has said about this topic. Good job by the Express of actually researching this information. Perhaps parents and people in general should also be told that Coke and Pepsi contain a significant amount of Caffeine as well, about half a cup of coffee! panic!
