http://littlebookish.blogspot.com/ : The Rise of Endymion - Dan Simmons

I love Ender's Game. Speaker for the Dead was even better. I'm wondering if I should try some Philip K. Dick or maybe give Iain M. Banks another try. I'd also like to read some Octavia Butler at some point. Have you read her before? If so, do you like her books?

Oh that's great! I definitely will check those out. It's been several years since I read the book. I haven't read any other Dan Simmons since and have been wanting to read more of his stuff. I'm actually a little embarrassed of this review. It's one of my earlier reviews before I really knew how to write them. I'm still not that confident when I write reviews and rarely blog anymore! What other sci-fi would you recommend? I need to give some more a try.

http://littlebookish.blogspot.com/ : 52 in 52!

I've done the vacation and read the 20 books. I am going to take the administrator exam very soon. I'm studying for it now. How about you? Have you completed anything on your list? I need to go in and update mine. The cheek biting I'm working on. One side is healed...the other I am still biting. So bad. I got in trouble with my hygienist at the dentist's office!

I felt the same way. When they were flying through the air (or possibly sliding down something...it's been awhile) for pages and pages, I got a little irritated. I think a good 100 pages could have been cut out of the book and it would have been really good. I still like the series overall and really enjoyed the book. I'm glad you pressed on! It was worth it for me.

I'll probably get there at some point. I just haven't hit that point yet. My reading year has definitely improved since this book though. Now I just need to update my blog!

I just wasn't a fan of this book. I know several people who really enjoyed it. Iris from http://irisonbooks.wordpress.com really enjoyed it I think. You might want to check out her review. This just wasn't my cup of tea.

It's been several months since I read this and now I realize I need to go back and read it again because I've forgotten some of the stories. I'm glad you enjoyed it. This was one of my favorite books this year (well, so far since there is still 3 months left in the year). To me, it was a non-stop ride of fun.

I loved all the little details. I need to go buy a paper copy of the book. I have the Kindle version and found that I prefer reading non-fiction in paperback. Are you going to read his new book, The Violinist's Thumb? That's on my shortlist of books I want to read. Of course, I probably won't get to it for awhile. My TBR is so long! I will head over to your blog now to look at your review. :)

I miss our conversations too, Iris! I am going to try to be a better blogger this year, check Twitter more often, and keep up with all the amazing people I've met through blogging. Thank you so much for your kind words. I feel so wowed by them. I hope all is well with you too, and I plan on doing your Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell read-a-long in February/March! Will be so great to reconnect!

I would say it's easy enough for the general reader. Like I said, I've never taken physics and I was still able to make it through the book. Some of it was challenging, but a lot of the concepts are things you can look up if interested enough. Mostly though, there were a lot of stories that are just interesting. I hope you enjoy it when you are able to get a copy!

I'm glad it's going on your TBR list. I had a great time reading it. I think I learn better when there is a story to go along with stuff and this was one of those books where the stories make the science way more interesting than a regular textbook would.

I know!!! I thought that video was so cool! I'm like you, Stu. I need to start reading more non-fiction. I had such a good time reading this. I also need to read more world authors which you tend to do, so I would like to make a point of visiting your blog more often this year. :)

Oh I am so glad you are going to read it! Let me know what you think of it! I can't wait to read the review on your blog as well. My work is actually going to have a happy hour in a few weeks where I get to ask questions about the books (I work with a bunch of actual scientists...haha. I'm just a pretender scientist myself). I'll let you know how it goes. I did get the Theory of Relativity explained to me just the other day after talking about this book. It's been pretty eye opening and interesting. I can't wait for you to read it!

You know, Carin, I thought you were the one that reviewed this and got me interested in the book. I wonder who it was now! I read it on someone's blog at some point in the last two years. It was fantastic! I hope you enjoy it. I need to get better about reading blogs again. You always have very interesting books on your blog so I will make a point of getting back to your blog on a more regular basis. Life just got super crazy and ridiculous the last year.

I thought it was a super fun book to read. I actually have gotten several people in my office to buy it and gift it to family members as well. This was a gem in my eyes. It's been a long time since I had so much fun reading a book. I hope you have a great reading year too, Judith!

You should join in and do a 52 in 52! I like Salesforce a lot. It's a pretty useful tool. I got sent to administrator training a few months ago so I need to study for the exam. They do classes for advanced administrator training in Toronto so I'm hoping my company would be open to sending me there maybe next year for advanced training if I need it. I've learned so much! We'll see how it goes. Maybe it won't be necessary for me to take the advanced class. I would just like to know more than I do now. Learn, learn, learn! I love my job. :)
