This morning I think we could all use a little laughter to start our day. Two Brazilian soldiers The Dept Of Defense briefed the president this morning and told OBAMA that two Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq. To everyone's surprise, all the color drained from Obama's face. Then he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost in tears. Finally, he composed himself and asked, 'Just how many is a brazilian?' This is especially enlightening since he obviously has no understanding of a billion or trillion either.

Let me just say that I had a wonderful time at the St. Louis Tea Party! The park ranger estimated that about 6 - 7 thousand people attended! It just goes to show that people really do care even in the Midwest.

I don't like the Continental part myself. We're not the only ones on this continent, so it would be like saying we're equal with Canada and Mexico... scary. I like the Patriot Party or some of the other suggestions like American Patriots. Just my opinion.

I won't move either. I have lived in Illinois my whole life and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I love my state, I just don't love those who are running it into the ground. It's pretty much the same way I feel about the federal government. I love my country, just not those running it. We need to take back our states so we can take back our country as a whole! :)

If you have the money to buy cigarettes and lottery tickets, explain to me why my tax dollars are paying for your doughnuts?!!! I am not rich by any means, and there have been times where I have needed help. Working as a nurse assistant the pay is not great, and this is why I am now in school to earn an Associate's degree so I will never have to depend on the government again. I understand people needing help sometimes, but this was just ridiculous. When I received help I bought the cheapest things I could find, and made things from scratch because buying anything with food stamps was humiliating enough without having people look at what I am buying and judging me for it. This is not the first time I have seen someone USE the system, but for some reason this time it really bothered me. I guess it's because here I am struggling just to make ends meet, and in front of me I see someone who is wasting taxpayers money just because they can.

Can I just say that there needs to be a sweeping overhaul of the Food Stamp programs in this country. A couple of weeks ago I went to a convenience store to buy a soda. A soda that I had to dig up enough change to buy mind you. When I went to check out there was a woman ahead of me who had just purchased a pack of cigarettes and a $10 lottery ticket. After paying for these things with cash she used her Link card to buy 3 glazed doughnuts.

Can I just say that not all of Illinois is as corrupt as some of those people in Chicago. Alot of us in southern Illinois are as tired of the bs coming out of Chicago as you are. Unfortunately our views are smothered in what those in Chicago do because there are so many more of them than us. Please pray for our state as we pray for our nation!

Amen Sidney! I live in southern Illinois ..most of the time I just say I'm from the St. Louis Mo area.. because saying that I'm from Illinois is embarassing. Most people assume that when you say you're from Illinois that you must be from Chicago. I tell them "You know what... there is a whole other part of the state that has nothing to do with Chicago... this part of the state for the most part is ignored."

Well as usual Illinois has to outdo what the federal government is already doing. As if the federal tax hike on cigarettes isn't enough, now Illinois has passed legislation adding another $1 to a pack of cigarettes. What I want to know is why they don't tax everything that is bad for you. Fast food, alcohol, nobody seems to be ready to jump on the bandwagon to add extra taxes to these things. No just pick on one group! I don't mind not smoking around non-smokers, and I don't expect anyone to pay for my healthcare for problems I have related to smoking. However, this is just getting ridiculous! Cigarettes in Illinois are already over $5 a pack now they want to make it $6! All this because they don't know how to balance a budget in this state, or nationally. Maybe it's time for me to grow my own, at least it won't be taxed as much.

If I'm not mistaken, I could have sworn that I heard that Obama has been keeping the Oval Office's temperature at around 80 degrees because he's used to the warm climate in Hawaii. This is not the first city to have trouble with the politicians saying there has to be permits for a protest. After the first Tea Party in St. Louis plans were made for another on April 15th. The people responsible for setting it up were having trouble with city officials. No phone calls were being returned for over a week concerning permits and such. After the local talk radio station got all over them on the airwaves and people starting making a fuss, they were finally able to get a hold of someone. Their excuse: The woman in charge of the permits was having health problems. Was no one else in the whole city of St. Louis able to take on this woman's workload while she was sick? I say that if Nancy Pelosi and the other government officials pushing for this nationalized health care want it so bad let them pay for it, use it, and have nothing else to depend on! I am one of those in this country that does not have health insurance. I agree that the costs are high, but nationalizing it won't make it better, it will just put everyone in the same boat. I am in school now so that I can make a better life for myself and my family so that when I graduate I will be able to find a job that can help pay for the costs of insurance. I don't expect a handout. I want to do it on my own! So they can shove their nationalized health care where the sun don't shine!
