Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent through 7/9

I saw the Judge and Laffer talking about the calls for a 2nd stimulus. 10% of the first package is spent, and it's clearly not working so far. Instead of arguing about the size of the next package, let's argue about revising the LAST package. Congress revises legislation all the time. They could strip out the pork, convert much of the money to tax cuts, and put American ingenuity back to work. And we'd be LOWERING our future debt, because we'd be revising down money already spent. China would be happier, businesses would launch projects to take advantage of tax breaks, and the GOP could fight on solid ground - lowering gov't spending, eliminating pork, and helping people help themselves. <a href="http://lightduty.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/stimulu..." target="_blank">http://lightduty.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/stimulu...

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : America's Wish List

2 things: Glenn needs to do a week-long special on the Constitution. It's time to remind people how far we've drifted from the ideals upon which the country was founded. He could hold it in DC, and maybe Congressmen could be in the studio audience, but NOT on as speakers. Maybe they'd learn a bit. Second - support efforts to create a a "Patrick Henry caucus" in every state legislature, and in the US Congress. Bring on candidates who support state rights, limited government, fiscal responsibility, and a strong national defense.

Obama is threatening to withold ALL of the stimulus money from California, unless the state restores pay cuts to health workers, who happen to be in the SEIU union. The cuts woudl've saved CA's budget $74 million, and amounted to around $2 an hour. For this, Obama is willing to shaft all the people of California? I was against the stimulus, but I'm even more against Obama using it as a bargaining chip to help the unions. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-health-cu...

I'd like to comment on the new round of hate crime legislation making its way through Congress. Many are objecting to it on Free Speech grounds. But hate crimes destroy justice, not just speech. Justice is blind for a GOOD reason. Justice is supposed to be impartial; a ruling in one case should apply to other like cases. But hate crimes require judge and jury to consider the race, age, gender, sexual orientation, or disability factors of a case. Juries are asked to guess the FEELINGS of defendants. Here's a hypothetical. Sam is beaten, dragged behind a truck, and burned until dead by 4 people. Is it a hate crime? Hate crime laws require courts to treat people differently based upon skin color, or age, or now sexual preference. Are gays likely to be more accepted because of this expansion of hate crime laws?

I very much see your point. But 3rd party candidates have a harder time getting elected, because the two parties have so much money and influence. That's why we'd be better off selecting candidates thru the primary systems of the existing parties - if they get rejected by the "old guard" then they can still run as independents, under a 3rd party banner. But their primaries will have given them exposure on the Dems or GOP dime.

What's next? Next, we need to get a field of candidates who support small government, and who understand that welfare is not compassionate. Democrat or Republican, we need to support small-government candidates, and push the election committees of both parties to spend their money in support of the small-government candidates, not just the incumbents. Of course, I'd prefer to vote for the GOP myself. But I'll vote for any party that runs a small-government candidate. EVEN A THIRD PARTY. For too long conservatives have settled for the status quo. It's time to vote for candidates who stand for something, otherwise we'll keep getting the crooks we have now.

One of the commenters suggests that guy was a bad father for bringing his baby to a "possibly violent" protest. I guess the grandparents, and the mom who organized the Tea Party here in Roanoke, must've kept their molotov cocktails well hidden...

Next? We'll vote for, or be, politicians who commit FIRMLY to a platform of smaller government, support for the Constitution, and who take office as a servant, not a master. We should put up these candidates during party primaries, and hope both parties see the light.

Actually, the Communists were prety notorious for sharing the wealth they confiscated with their cronies. Is that so different than Paulson & Giethner (yes, one worked for Bush) sending money to their Wall St. friends? What Bush policies do you find unconstitutional? What court cases support your claim? If you think Bush ignored the Constitution, then do you believe Obama is doing likewise by continuing Bush policies? If so, is that ok with you, or should Obama be encouraged to change? As for things we fear not coming to pass - you're saying Hollywood doesn't crank out movies that nudge the cultural center toward the left? That's the basic premise of this site.

Not exactly. He SERVES us. We hired Obama, and when he's not performing, it's our job to help him understand when he makes mistakes, so he can correct his errors and not make them again. If one of your employees was doing a poor job, you'd train them to correct it, right?

So, the NY Times is complaining about getting the cold shoulder from Obama. To help them out, I drafted a question for them, one that Obama definitely hasn't been asked before. It concerns "overseas contingency operations" and lung problems in New York. http://www.redstate.com/hawksruleva/2009/04/02/ny...

Term limits would be a big help. I'm of a mind that what we need is to elect a slate of representatives who would run on the promise to serve a single term, and fix the pressing issues of our country that the current fat cats won't tackle because it's against their self-interests. That might be idealism. But this nation was once made up of people who spurned selfish pursuit of power, and crafted a government that answered to the people. I believe it still has people like that.

Education really isn't a matter for the government. As in ALL things, government is an inefficient supplier of education. And schools are a primary crutch for politicians seeking to raise money, which then goes to whatever pet project they prefer. Think about it - if you didn't have to pay the taxes that go to support schools, couldn't you afford a private school? Many people end up paying double for education. Once for the public system, and once for a private school that doesn't suck. We should push the Washington, in particular, to get out of the school business. If ANY government should teach our kids, it's local government. Then states.

Actually, several states have measures reaffirming the 9th and 10th amendments, which codify the rights of the states. http://townhall.com/Columnists/WalterEWilliams/20... I think supporting such measures would be a great step to a)weaning states off the Federal dime, and b)giving pause to the Federal notion of complete authority.

Charity. I've thought a bit about this lately. Is it charity to give away our children's money? Of course, we should object to Obama's "spend to success" plan for more reasons than the simple theft from our children. Conservatives should oppose these massive programs because they're wrong. Conservatives have a real issue with honesty. We're all afraid that people will think we're insensitive. It's time we learned that compassion isn't going along with liberal ideas. Real compassion is doing what's right. Here's the simple truth. The government provides NO product or service more efficiently than does the private sector. Stealing money thru taxes, fees, and restrictions means people have less money to help their neighbors. Medicare Part Z doesn't solve problems - it panders for popularity, at the expense of trust, and at the expense of the individual. Put in everyday terms - when's the last time you saw Uncle Sam buying doughnuts at a local fundraiser? It's time we stand up for what's right, and say no to government spending on utopian programs.

Yesterday Rep. Paul Ryan admitted to Politico that he wouldn't have voted for the 90% tax on execs if he'd known it might be unconstitutional. Lawmakers can no longer discern right and wrong. Taking money from people who have broken no law is wrong. Giving money to people or corporations that haven't earned it is ALSO wrong. Someone, Glenn... should provide a weeklong series of seminars on the Constitution. Invite our legislators. Televise it. Maybe then they'd be able to uphold the document that they've sworn to defend.
