Were any of your close friends who had to make those tough decisions about having an abortion or having the baby raped when they were 15 by their mother's sex offender boy friend? and then went to live with their criminal history dysfunctional dad?? Some girls have no clue what some of their peers go through...what if you wanted to remain a virgin and a pedophile raped you? Would you be confused? What if the baby had meconium aspiration syndrome or all sorts of other complications and died from that while the mother was unconscious on the floor? Did you and all your girlfriends know exactly what was happening the first time you got your periods? Hopefully yes, but there are disturbingly significant numbers of young girls who don't have a clue. You have no direct knowledge of the situation other than there is the sad story of a dead baby and dysfunctional family. Coming to the conclusions you write above is what cannot be justified.

you were there, and that's why you know what you post above to be a fact? so if you were there and know all this, what did you do to help? Oh, you weren't there at all, you just have a graphic imagination for horrible details... What if she delivered the baby sitting on the toilet... and it was stillborn or did not start breathing on its own... and she passed out from the pain or stress or???? what if the baby had the cord wrapped around his neck? and she was unconscious... hey, I don't know, that's just a what if story too. Though it makes your story a lot less real, despite its graphic details and judgment. The fact is none of us know at this point. Can we send compassion into the world rather than vitriol?

I have not read that this was a live birth, What if the baby was stillborn? The crime then is concealing a birth, a stillbirth. What are you doing in your community to help kids who have such horrible parents? Have you ever been raped? or been a victim of incest? Have you ever been the recipient of compassion, which doesn't deny a horrible situation, but acknowledges your humanity?

I have not read that this was a live birth, that the baby ever took that first breath. What if the baby was stillborn? The crime then is concealing a birth, a stillbirth. The trauma of the getting pregnant and probable denial of the pregnancy and terrible parenting this girl has endured remains. And it is only the beginning for her, this awful ordeal, a child who slipped through the cracks into an awful abyss. Please don't judge...especially when you are judging a "story" and don't really know what happened. The beginning.

no, no, no!!! she MAY have known she was pregnant; you have NO WAY to judge that she absolutely knew she was pregnant. she would know she had had sex and if she was raped she may have powerfully repressed that nightmare and denied she was pregnant. It is not that unusual, especially given the horrible stress. So many of you posters seem to run this movie of her standing over the toilet holding the baby's head under water.... what if she had the baby while sitting on the toilet and PASSED OUT and when she came to the infant was head down in the toilet dead. Probably a more reasonable scenario. How many of you quick judgers who want to lock her up have adopted unwanted kids, have had foster kids in your care, have volunteered with Big Sisters or other groups that can help kids in need? are sure that your schools have realistic and helpful sex ed and counselors kids in need feel free to talk to? I work with teenagers and let me tell you all the "she should have..." comments are off base in terms of judging her for not getting help. It is often really really hard to find and hard to come by. And for anyone who is opposed to abortion... are you willing to take the young mother to be into your home while she is pregnant and then adopt her baby... or do something to make sure that child, born to a child, is really cared for? Let's work on compassion and find out more about this situation. It is tragic that the baby died.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Disruptions multiply amid continued snow, cold | KOMO News - Seattle, Washington | Local

My 90 year old dad flew from SeaTac to Chicago OHare on Tuesday, only to find his connecting flight to Syracuse had been cancelled. OHare had over 2000 cots out, with blankets and pillows, for stranded passengers, and Pops slept from 10 to 5 beside a big airport Christmas tree. He felt well cared for by airport personnel and fellow passengers. He looked at it as an adventure and not an inconvenience, with curiosity, good will and patience. Think of it, he said... I'm late, that's all. I'm not fearing being shot at or fleeing my home or enduring something with truly no end in sight. I am thankful for being able to travel from one loving daughter's house to another loving daughter's house in a free and bountiful nation. I am thankful.....

all? I read the book and was proud to vote for Obama and truly pleased and relieved that he was elected and am looking forward to doing all I can to help this country be the best it can be. Since you like to read, tome, might I suggest Chalmers Johnson's fine book, Blowback, and the other two books Johnson wrote subsequently. You would enjoy the additional perspective!

My brother in law is one of those wealthy folks who will doubtless pay more taxes if Obama's policies are enacted. My brother in law is fairly conservative and was an avid active Obama supporter. One of his lines..... if you pay a lot of taxes that means you made a LOT of money... and you should still have a lot left over...and be happy with what you've got and that you have the wherewithall to help finance this great nation.

About how we helped put Saddam into power.. those chummy shots of him and D. Rumsfeld in days gone by.
